Hello, I’m very new to towing and the idea of getting stuck down a narrow road still scares the watsit out of me. But I want to take the caravan to Tenby, Wales (from Worthing, West Sussex) .

I was going to take the M4, A48, A40,A477, A478

Whats that route like? I’ve google earthed it and it seems ok?

Live in Carmarthenshire, and visit Tenby often, by car and caravan. Never had a problem,Good roads and access to sites. Where have you booked?

Generally the vast majority of main roads,(A roads and Trunk routes) in Wales are of very good standard, having had major improvements in recent years. Last week we ventured over the border for a few days away in the caravan, I was surprised at the very poor standard of some of the "A" roads in Herefordshire. Extremely uneven and pot holed surfaces made towing interesting to say the least. Yes we may avail ourselves of squares of the Western Mail, but at least our roads are OK

They should try 'twinning' with Begium. The roads here are dire.

Thanks for the response, don’t worry it’s not just Wales I worry about towing in! I’d be asking the same advice if going anywhere else ! I’m sure I’ll get more confident .

Im booked in to Penally Court Farm although looking to head on somewhere else maybe Mumbles or Brecon Beacons if anyone has any recommendations (we are a family of 4) but I appreciate I’m leaning it a bit late as want to go at the beginning of August !
