Lake Garda - Good sites with large pitches

Has anyone any experience of ACSI sites around Lake Garda that have decent pitch sizes?  We have a large single axle with motor mover with tends to fill many sites in that area.  Any personal recommendations would be gratefully received.

    Have not stopped on sites around Lake Garda but from the lake itself they seem well packed insurprised

    Yes, we stayed at Camping Fornella last year with our Swift Elegance 580 + 2 dogs (booked through the club). We had a super pitch (fully serviced). It's a huge site & it took us a while not to get lost! Very clean facilities + restaurant onsite which was very good. Swimming complex excellent. The only scary bit was approach was a bit narrow, but would happily recommend. Happy to answer any questions.

    Camping Bella Italia is not to bad for pitch size and Camping Cisano does have some larger pitches.

    We used Baia Verde a few years back, pitches were a good size.

    We have a twin axle 7.95m.

    We do not have this years ACSI book, so not sure whether they are still in ACSI.

     Baia Verde looks promising, good reviews as well, seem to actually welcome ACSI users rather than treating them as second class

      I, too, have used Camping Fornella  a couple of years ago, wanting a super pitch for our 8' wide van. Didn't have any problems at all and loved the area.

    Yes, we were made very welcome, we had to wait for some new wheel bolts to be delivered, the site took in our package when we were out, excellent service.e

    Another vote for Bella Italia!

    We have stayed many times over the years and it is our favourite site.

    There are many reasons for this, happy memories are one, and it is a site that is in a great location, has reasonable size pitches and has excellent facilities.

    It won’t be to everyone’s taste as it is a large site and very busy but when we have been it’s far more cosmopolitan than many sites elsewhere as it is very very popular with users of ACSI and before that Camping Cheques.

    Whilst large it’s nothing like the ‘boxes in a row’ you can get in some places with masses of trees and shrubs however this can make accessing pitches tricky so your mover will be very handy.

    One thing that we have noticed, living as we do in an area where many work part time and seasonally in the tourist industry, is that most staff were the same at the last visit as at the first and seem genuinely happy in what they do.

    We are planning to visit again next year.

    How we differ, and how it is really pointless to try and recommend campsites to other people. A campsite like Bella Italia  with 1200 pitches means there may well be 4000 people there. I'm off  embarassed.

     Too true. If I recommend a site I'm careful to mention that we like small sites with basic facilities (not to mention cheap!) which are often municipals in France.

    I know others like pools, restaurants and the like but they're not for us.

    A couple of years ago we tried a site next to Lake Annecy which had been recommended highly here and elsewhere. We hated it and left after one night.

    I suspect it very much depends whether you are there for the site or the location. Our main purpose is to visit an area and to some extent the site is less important. Now we have a motorhome we like sites that are near to places to walk to and these places tend to be the larger busier sites. Sites like Bella Italia are large but when you are on your pitch it does not seem that way. Next door to Bella Italia is a smaller campsite called Camping Cappuccini but with prices between €30 and €50 a night. So small comes at a price.

    Whitin the last 20 years we stayed already a few times at laquercia. Ok, just like a little city for its own, but well organized and calm and tidy. Just a 10 min walk to the lovely city Lacise. We have  had pitches for twin-axle caravan with awning an stuff you need for a 5 person-family. there is space enough for relaxed holidays 😄

    Also recommend Fornella - stayed there a couple of years ago and the pitches where enormous if you go for the serviced ones.  The others are a bit hit and miss, but mostly bigger than average. Access to the lake and also has a marina next door with free slipway if you want to take a boat/inflatable.

    The entrance is very easy to miss, so make sure you have coordinates for exact position as the main road, which is quite narrow, takes you to a little village and its hard to find somewhere to turn round.

    Surprised no one has mentioned Sirmione and Camping Tiglio.

    It's an ACSI site within cycling distance of the delightful spa town of Sirmione

    We are big fans of Fornella Camping too.   Always get a big pitch.

    Thanks for all those suggestions folks, much appreciated.  Hope to be there from the 7th of June.  Will probably try Baia Verde first, and if full will work back towards Sirminone.

    Hi everyone.  Thanks for the tips.  Camping Baia Verde was great.  No trouble using ACSI card.  Good size pitches, you could choose any of them, nice clean swimming pool, handy for getting around area, one downside was that it was a bit of a trip to get a lake Garda boat, for which we went to Salo.  Apart from that, it was excellent and the staff couldn't do enough for you.
