Can you fit an Omnistep to front cab of motorhome
We are in the process of purchasing a Bessecar Motorhome, while I can access the van form the habitiation door without using a step, this is not always going to be convenient, as we will be travelling with our 2 dogs. I find the height of the cab to be quite high and difficult to access without having a step to get in, as my replacement knee restricts me. I am hoping to be able to take the van away on my own with my dogs so therefore a permanent step, such as an electric omnistep would be useful. Any help or suggestions with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

It’s something we investigated for our Peugeot (same as the Fiat) and it seems very unlikely it can be fitted due to lack of underfloor space.
It’s too late for you now but the Mercedes Sprinter based MHs have lower access to the cab.

I don't know where your habitation door is located debsdeb. Ours is just behind the cab. We put our Hymer MH on ramps for the first time the other day and OH was finding the hab door step a little high. She also finds the cab one difficult and prefers using the habitation door. I think we will put in a low plastic step for such eventualities. The affect of ramps was not really something we considered when buying it.

I’d be tempted to look at a Land Rover folding step, the kind used in Defenders. You might have to get fitter to modify, and find some way of folding up and down once in cab, but might do the job. Or if you are alone, just use an ordinary caravan step, tie some thin rope to it, so that you can pull it in after you and dump it in other footwell. We used to carry a small footstool to get MIL into our 4x4s, worked a treat. 😁

I’ve not checked the price of the sliding Omnistors as my findings suggested they wouldn’t fit.
Those you linked to certainly look the part, BB, but I’m not sure it would fit on the nearside as the AdBlue tank could well be in the way. The advantage over a sliding step is that no electrical work would be needed. They have a lot going for them - except price😋.

It was quite easy to fit an Omni step to a Sevel van (as in the older X250 pictured above) but then, in 2017 on the X290, they put a plastic AdBlue tank in the way on the nearside. If the OP has the X250, or non-AdBlue version, then there’s not a problem.
The wiring to allow automatic retraction on closing the door was a different matter - far from easy.

As far as I am aware, Euro6 Fiat does not use AdBlue but Euro6 Peugeot does. My Pug certainly does.

I fitted an electric omnistep to the front passenger door of my Ducato based Rapido A-Class, I'm sure I've seen ones for van fronts advertised too.
