Will it invalidate warranty

Very likely.
Check the Swift website and find who they approve. Probably a NCC accredited repairer will be OK.

If there is an ABS panel involved, I would have to keep the warranty as despite the repairer's skills this is a high risk item that could crack at anytime irrespective of repair or not.
If the repair is on the body, not involving any major ABS panel, then if I knew a repairer I trusted they would get the job even at the expense of losing warranty cover. That being based on a proper repair will not "need" any warranty, plus the existing warranty will still be in place for issues elsewhere not related to the repair.
So my decision would be based on if ABS is involved, preferring decidedly if not, to go with someone I trusted,

Personnally I would always use an NCC registered repairer that was Swift approved in order to maintain the 10 yr warranty. If your repair man isn''t as good as you think, and makes an error that causes an issue later, you could lose the warranty, whereas if the Swift approved guy makes the same mistake, you should still have the warranty I believe

Independent does not mean not registered. It usually states in the service bit of the warranty that you need a NCC or Approved status repair shop. No way they would meet body related claim if someone had repaired it who had no professional registration.

Thank you all for your replies. I contacted Swift today and they said that because the company are MCEA registered that he would be okay to repair the damage to the van, as it is just filler and spraying. If he damages the van then the warranty would not cover that.
He won't be covered to service the van.
