Capbreton aire
i did read on another forum that this wonderful aire was closed.....a large rock in the entrance way apparently....but I can confirm its open now...
Capbreton is a lovely seaside (and canal side) town and the aire is right on the beach in the dunes, Lovely marina and many dedicated cycle tracks,.
it costs €10 and every pitch has electic included, loads of room at this time of year, but warm enought to be sat out in the town...
we are only passing through but will add this to our list of potential longer stops.

But the OP said "this wonderful Aire".....

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that. Better than a bit of tarmac between the council recycling bins and the gasworks.

They are old photos taken in the winter of 2007 from the top of the dunes! Perhaps BB has some current ones? I have used it a couple of times as an overnight stop but have never been further than the beach. The one big advantage of Aires for me is you can guarantee there is access and there will be no obstructions or difficulties getting on a pitch.

How about this one then, a fine example of how it should be done. Barrier controlled well spaced pitches and optional EHU.

great and for MH's a good facility, and have to assume it works, my first observation is that the site looks to be pretty remote and unattended, I can see a situation in the UK where the barrier might be unbolted, the pay machine vandalised for whatever was in it, and the EHU used without paying. Many years ago i used a well known railway station that was barrier controlled, it was not uncommon to find the barrier removed and the bolts thrown into the ajoining field, we also had intermittant problems with those that travel a lot, setting up camp.

I’m no expert but it really is a car park in every sense, I’d sooner wild camp☹️

I thought it was the car park at Rutland Water. It’s a dead ringer even down to the pay & display machine. Don’t suppose the cafe is just off the edge of the screen….🤔

such a shame that my information post, alerting Aires users to the fact that Capbreton was open again gets pounced on by those who have no interest in the subject.
Obviously if folk posted they have an interest!
Aires are not campsites
I think that most RV users know that.
I wouldn't want to think that CC sites were always they only option
Not sure that anybody that has posted on here is onder that delusion.
I really don't care too much if the Usual Subjects don't get it
No idea who 'the usual subjects' are but I am sure that they are not daft.
No need to get upset if some air their views BB
