After they pitch your van your allowed to take your car to the pitch to load/unload. Park in the car park
Not any use for those who use the tow vehicle as a frequently visited store cupboard because of lack of space or load capacity.
Does the wee tractor also move motor caravans onto and off pitches?

Stellplatz at Wietzendorf in Germany. The stellplatz is in the foreground. All payments are by machine, the last time we stayed on the platz was 4 years ago and if memory serves it cost about 12 euros/night. The camp opposite was several restaurants etc.

Thinking about Bath Chew valley, Mrs M's parents used to live in the village just 400 yards or so from the site. So we went to look at it. We decided that it would take so long to read through the draconian list of rules and regulations that we'd have no time to do anything else!

What rubbish you do talk or your standards are far below what we come to expect on club sites
Ps most of what has been "advised" was from one of the original staff not club staff who was still on site in their mobile home who was glad to see that the site was going through much needed upgrades to the facilties

I think perhaps best approach for trying to increase overnight stop points would be to target individual town planners. If all folks in MH want is a space to dump their tourer overnight, as cheaply as possible, then making overtures to places like York, surrounded by P&R facilities, might pay dividends. No overnight sleeping allowed at moment, but most of the required infrastructure is there. Stick in one of those automated black waste machines, a dump drain and a tap and it’s sorted.
Personally, only as an emergency for us, but others don’t seem to mind. I’ve slept in lay-bys (in caravan) more attractive than that photo of EuroTs earlier in thread, when in transit.

the Scottish Govt may well find that as tourism is one of their biggest income earners that they embark on these type of facilities. The CAMC? No way.
They have already done so in the Trossachs National Park.
If you want such facilities as provided by Campingcarpark.com, and I think there is room and a need for such in the UK in the major tourist hot spots, then the best bet is to lobby them to start up in the UK rather than the Club who has certainly shown no inclination to move in this direction. It will come I am sure, the market is there and the Club should be concerned that someone like Campingcarpark doesn't get a foot in the door first.

It’s a balancing act. Some locations possibly don’t really need any more visitors. Dales, Cornwall are rammed to the gills with all sorts of tourists during some months, and it’s not a pleasant experience at times. You can’t move in places like York, Whitby etc...... at certain times of year (not all Summer either).

Peedee, I still fail to see why Caravanners should subsidise a project that they won't be allowed to use, unless you also build in drive through spaces for overnight stops only. The club can't even find spare land to build new sites so have to resort to purchasing existing sites so I have no idea where they hope to buy land for a network of Aires

It certainly is BB but not the point I was making.
To expect anything other than the odd local authority, giving up part of a P& R for those sort of figures is just not going to happen. For anyone to invest in a Aire of the type shown in OP's photo, they would have to charge a realistic rate. The 16€ or its equivalent here seems about right. Particularly so in an urban environment where land prices are through the roof. If it was actually in the city as with Baltic Wharf, I would expect to pay substantially more.

In Devon - as well as the well publicised Exmouth Council car parks scheme, there are overnight Motorhome stays in car parks at Appledore, Bideford, Crediton, Holsworthy, Torrington and Westward Ho - mostly at £5 a night. Things are moving.

I suppose that is compatable with non-facility CC sites. They don't have showers though ....... but also don't charge 50€ a KW/H.
I suppose it would need to be where Rowntree Park is though??

Not sure the CAMC would want to. The still below taken from the UT video of Canterbury Aire, shows the spacing somewhat closer than that in the German example. The clip did not show any facilities. Does it have any?

For me as a caravanner all I would like is more basic sites, without toilet block: just water, waste and EHU. The CAMC do provide these and they are popular but seem to be a dying breed as more and more emphasis is put on up-to-date facilities. This basic type site also fits well with the OP desire for cheaper facilities (although I know that is an oversimplification). I know that CLs provide for this and I use them often but also like the security etc of a basic club site. Horses for courses and everything about caravanning / motorhoming is a compromise. Aires are great for MHers but not a serious investment for CAMC methinks.
