Portugal
We are planning on visiting Portugal for the first time in low season this year and would appreciate any recommendations please on campsites with good size pitches as we have a 8metre twin axle caravan (with movers). We will start in the Algarve area having driven down through Spain to Caceres (a route we know) and then intend travelling northwards visiting for example Lisbon, Fatima, Porto then back into Spain to Santiago before heading home. We enjoy visiting old towns and historical sites in particular so again any recommendations on places to visit on route would also be appreciated.

We have 7.2m single axle so you will need to check (as on most sites?) for pitches.
All I can offer is:
Near Seville, El Rocio is a weird place (like a cowboy town) Both worth a visit)
Donarrayan Park had just been taken over by Yelloh in 2016 and is in the middle of a lovely forest area (we thought)
Into Portugal you'll need to decide what you are doing about the complex toll system. Should be other advice on here or sort at Algarve welcome point on A22. We had an account but there are multiple ways including (according to some) don't bother.
Turiscampo (Algarve), a CAMC associate, is probably the best site you'll find in Portugal. Sites in general are not up to CAMC standards IMHO.
Think about visits to: Sagres, the fort and the lighthouse Silves, Lagos, Tavira
Best group we found was Orbitur and used their "passport" which gave a good discount in 2016.
We used:
Guincho for Lisbon (train from Cascais) some pitches small - check.
Either of the Lisbon bridges are spectacular but the tolls are separate to the other two systems.
Foz Do Arhelo for Obidos (unique) and Fatima (I'm not religious but it was interesting)
Madalena for Porto. Never got to the city due to illness (a miss). Make sure you have good travel insurance. The local hospital gave good treatment with copies of EHIC and passport at no charge but was like a war zone.
The port lodges are within easy bike ride, hic!
Caminha, before we went back into Spain for Santander via Picos de Europa.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Chave Grande, Satao, in 2015. It was eligible for ACSI discount making it very economical. The couple running the site were very friendly and helpful, organising a programme of evening meals/buffets. The pitching areas were terraced with no marked out pitches but still plenty of space. Facilities were clean and functional. Tradesmen called some days with supplies of bread and produce, some were quite amusing and entertaining. Lovely memories of this gem of a site. Had a day out to the Douro valley wine region.
