Our first trip out ...
After our first experience of caravanning we decided to invest in a motormover. Wow what a difference it makes, especially getting Dora (our "Xplore" 402) into a hedged corner on my drive.
We decided we wanted to stay near home and booked a night at Chapel Lane Campsite near Birmingham. Apart from only being 30 miles from home, what attracted us to Chapel lane was the hardstanding pitches. It had snowed (very lightly) the night before and we didn’t fancy Dora getting stuck in grass.
Our drive to the campsite was non eventful – thankfully. Although I do think Campsites should have complementary masseuse on site as my shoulders were so tight after the drive. Is it normal to have tight shoulders after driving? I guess I need to relax a little more, hey!?
It only took us 20 minutes to get pitched from hitching Dora off the car to putting the kettle on. My daughter brought a friend with her – she hadn’t been caravanning before and took to it like a duck on water. She has the bug.
Our afternoon was spent walking the dog, playing board games, and getting dinner ready for the evening. We were thoroughly relaxed. After a glass of wine with dinner and a good film, it was time to snuggle down and sleep. We woke with the car covered in ice as it was yet another cold night – but we didn’t feel it – it was so cozy in our little caravan.
Oh how we love the caravan lark
