Hi folks,

We are at Albufeira ( Portugal ) until Fri 8th Feb wishing to steadily tow west as close as sensible to the coast until we move up France to stop off in the Loire about mid March. Would be really grateful of any suggestions of sites preferably about 250/300 miles apart. TIA.

From your synopsis, it would appear that you won't be anywhere near Barcelona. Did you mean Bilbao?

You don't say which part of the Loire you want to visit - it covers  quite a bit of France on its way to the coast. If you want to cross over into France at the southern end of the Pyrenees, then you should head for Seville, Granada, Lorca, Murcia, Valencia, then up the AP7 past Barcelona to southwest France.

Consult your ACSI book for sites. Before Seville, consider El Rocia near Huelva, or Camping Vilsomm at Dos Hermanos south of Seville. Go around Granada to the campsite at Beas de Granda before setting off onthe A92 towards Lorca. There may be snow on the roads around Granada. A good stop south of Barcelona, but 200 miles from the border, is Cala d'Osques at Hopitalet de L'Infant.

Since the original enquiry was "west from Albufeira via the coast" it would suggest to me that the OP will be hugging the Iberian Atlantic coast.

Sorry guys, I did mean East. we intend to do probably 250/350 miles a go, stopping off wherever between Albufeira and Barcelona, then up to our old village of Concourson sur Layon just below Saumur for a week or so before returning St Malo / Caen - Portsmouth.

Here's the view from the campsite at Beas de Granada in February.
