Automatic Caravan Levelling

I caravan alone and often 'off-grid' in open fields. Levelling can take a loooong time with much to-ing and fro-ing to check the spirit level. I like the look of the E&P automatic system. Does anyone have any experience of it? Good or bad comments? Thanks.

It looks good to me Elizabeth as I am keeping an eye out for such a system.  I hope someone will have tried it!

We have the EP fitted as standard on our caravan.  Makes fitting the ALKO wheel locks very easy and caravan is perfectly level.

Hi Elizabeth, I had the full E&P system fitted to my Bailey Unicorn Valencia as soon as I got it. I wouldn’t be without it, makes pitching up so easy and quick. On really  un-level ground you can use the manual buttons if needed. It’s handy for changing wheels as well as you can lift the wheel or wheels clear of the ground - no need to to carry a Jack!

I believe that it’s kinder to the axle, as the weight is only fully on the wheels when travelling, in fact when I’m at home I lift the wheels clear of the ground, so there is no load on the axle at all or the tyres either.

The extra weight and it’s cost are the only negatives that I can see.

But, well worth it in my book.

MIne is four years old,  has been trouble free and is regularly used.

Caravan is also rock steady when pitched up!

We had the E&P basic system fitted to our caravan (Eldiss Crusader Storm)  so we just have the main hydraulic rams levelling the caravan side to side then adjust front to back manually using the corner steadies. We carry some wooden blocks to place under the rams on really bad sites.

As mentioned the two negative aspects of the system are the weight and the cost, I think it is worth the money but with a 4 wheel mover as well I do struggle keeping under the MPTLM

It looks excellent, but at £2669 and 30 kgs weight I think I will stick with a spirit level!

I do worry about the effect on the caravan chassis unless it is upgraded. Side to side leveling if it takes the weight off the wheels could surely twist the chassis. Have I missed something?

I also caravan alone. I have a motor mover fitted and use that together with a lock’n’level to get the caravan level from side to side. Once under the wheel all is needed is to stand and watch the sprit level while the device inflates enough to get the van level.

The jockey wheel for front to back levelling.

It takes me 10 – 15 minutes to level everything.

I have not been under neighbour's caravan to look but I thought that the rams undertaking side to side leveling acted on the jacking point tube

    See here.

The centre jacks are fixed to the axle close to the wheels, so it’s very unlikely to twist anything.

I think you just saved me some money Whattakerr!  Thank you!  I haven't felt the need to use my Lock n level yet and the idea of a pushbutton job was tempting - but it seems I really don't need it.  :)

It’s not for everyone, but for me it’s a bonus.

It’s takes one second to push the button and then I just let it get on with it. In two minutes it’s done. While it’s doing it’s stuff I make a start with  the hook up cable, waste master and aquaroll. In the time that it would normally take to level up, I’m finished.

Less time spent setting up, is a godsend in poor weather, likewise if my back is playing up, it’s one less task of bending I have to endure.

Excellent product and after 5 years service a bonus to have especially time and effort saved. Alko lock fitting gets done first  great for double axle vans. rock steady in minutes.

Yes it is 30kgs but you take off about 20 kg with the removal of the old jacks. Unless it comes free, do not bother with the remote if the main panel is fitted just inside the door.

Not interested personally but CC offers includes a remote handset. No idea beyond that

Save another 5kg by not needing to carry a jack and a corner steady winder.
