dont want to spread too much doom & gloom, but there is an article in the Daily Mail today that suggests that if we crash out of the EU then some passports may need to be valid for at least 15 months to gain entry into some EU countries, article does not give countries, and it would imply that it would only affect those who renew their passports early and then tag on the left over time from old passport so it may be only a small minority of people, but the article does suggest it could cause an overloading of the passport offices if people scramble to renew, worth watching the press for updates.undecided

Has anyone else noticed a trend, every time someone posts more bad news about Brexit it has been reported in The Mail!

I think we all know by now that things are going to change but not sure they will all be bad changes.  I wish they would just get on with it and move on sick of everything being blamed on Brexit!

tend to agree, however, a wait and see attitude is not always an option for some, e.g. dog owners who now have to ensure there dogs have a blood test etc to comply with possible changes to rules re rabies, which can take 3 months to complete depending on the circumstances, and if you should have a passport that is teetering on the brink of not being valid if the rules change, trying to get a new passport in a short time scale may not be possible, yes you can maybe postpone your holiday until you get sorted, but this could be expensive if you have already paid out monies. I put this post up just as a heads up just in case people had not seen it, although it is in other newspapers than the Mail, after all, i thought this is what CT is all about undecided

I have just renewed my passport early because when it runs out early next May I will have just returned from Spain, but they did not add the wasted 6 months off my old passport.

The good news was that I applied via my Town Post Office and had my new passport delivered 49 hours later.   How about that!.

But then, as our friends noted when the sold papers on their sites the Mail everyday was normally the most ordered, and Saturdays always out sold by a large margin more than any other

But then unless there is a no deal exit ,nothing is expected to alter for a least two years ,as when someone?agrees to leave ,that is when the negotiations as to what will we will be affected  then startsurprised

My advice would be to stop buying the Daily Mail; but if you really must buy it then at least stop reading it.

For the information of the brexiteer who wants a blue passport, and anyone else really, it was the British government who decided that our passports should be changed to red from blue. It was nothing to do with the EU at all. Absolutely nothing! We could have had a bilious green colour if we'd wanted.

See, their postulation that we are going to be better off outside of the EU is based on lies, more lies, then more lies again after that, even to the ridiculous level of the colour of a little book, which in the current world wide IT regime, is becoming less and less relevant. In a couple of years, we won't even need one.

In the words of another lunatic: "Very sad."

Rowena has started a new thread here on the subject of travelling to the EU after Brexit https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/discussions/sites-touring/overseas-sites-touring/travelling-after-brexit/ Rather than duplicate posts I will close this thread and ask people to contribute to the Sticky thread linked above.

    Thanks
