Member Offer: My Esso Card

When I posted this earlier today I did not realise that the T&Cs had been changed without anyone knowing. This cannot be MORALLY or LEGALLY correct.
The time has now come for Rowena or, better still, someone in real authority in this club to come onto this forum and explain, without equivocation, exactly what is going on and what the club is going to do about it.

I downloaded the original T&C and it says 15 litres.
Quote:
"3.11 The use of the Fuel Card by the Cardholder is subject to the Cardholder drawing at least 15 litres of Fuel in each transaction. For each transaction that the
Cardholder draws less than 15 litres of Fuel, Pump-King is entitled to charge the Cardholder a £1 administration fee."0 -
I tried to access login, which had previously worked only to find that site was refusing connections, to establish whether card number had been issued. It hasn't but PIN number has
I had concerns that this was an elaborate scam, as I have telephoned only to be told to email details of issue, hence searched for a discussion topic to find out more.
I like many of you am still waiting to receive card, was a little concerned that its only debit cards that are the only payment method, but put my faith in the "club" having done the due diligence on members behalf
Thanks to Watendlath for highlighting the changes in terms and conditions and fully support his stance on the fact that a statement from the club is needed.

I used my card for the first time last friday (11th) and I haven't had my account debited either. The receipt for the fuel showing the discounted amount was entered onto my online essocard (Pump King now) account on Wednesday (15th). The discounted cost was exactly as per last weeks text price. Will update when transaction shows on my current account.

Try this.

I've also noticed that their telephone number has changed on their website.
On Tuesday I phoned them on 0203 468 8578 which was from the myessocard website. Today on the Pump-King website the number is 0203 962 2335
Tried both numbers and permanently engaged.
Still waiting for a response to my emails and still no sign of a refund for the duplicated transaction.

We really need the person responsible for bringing this to the club to explain exactly what due diligence was followed ( I now doubt any) and what binding assurances the club received that this whole scheme is above board and to the real benefit of members.

I agree. We all signed up to this based on an offer promoted by the Club so they do have some responsibility in this matter. Yes, our contract is with PK Fuels but I signed up with a CAMC referral code and have a CAMC branded card so the Club must have an agreement with PK Fuels to allow that to happen.

same fiasco with the Shell Card and although i do not have one, i believe that was also Pumking related, just maybe CAMHC have some sort of business interest in PK?, they were very quick to promote this card in the early stages, but now silence
Cannot find any relationship between WEX & PK and yet my card has the WEX logo, and interestingly it has CAMC embossed over my name, still if i can fill up and not be billed for 10 days or more, I am happy

Interestingly ecommerce1 stated this on the 23/11 2018

Esso is a highly reputable company, the Club has agreement between WEX (Esso) and PK Fuel Ltd (re-seller) The reason why this offer has taken over two years is that we need to know that members data, the Clubs reputation will not be damaged.

me thinks they have gotten in a bit deep, not thought through the total business case, although WEX have been issuing fuel cards for a good number of years, and gotten in deep do da, but my guess is that it will all be resolved and we can revert to a normal life

Come on CAMC let’s have some answers over this, like many others I applied for the deal, no card, no calls answered, no emails answered, if we don’t get some positive answers soon This is going to reflect very badly on the club, especially when it comes to renewal time. The ball is in your court.

Rufs, I would be a bit cautious there. If their incompetence allows them to not bill you for 10 days+ that same incompetence will more than likely allow them to double bill you, as has been shown in earlier posts on this thread.

here what you are saying, and yes this is a fiasco, but that is not my experience fortunately, i seem to be one of the lucky ones, got 2 cards very promptly, have used 1 card which is registered on the site with no issues, long may it continue, it is saving me money

If it has taken 2 years how come the company PK Fuel was only registered in April 2018 in England however with the payment system outside the EEA so our data can be used in anyway and we will have no say over the way it is handled?
It would also be interesting to have input why the original website for "myessocard" disappeared without any notice and also why the T&Cs were changed and no one notified of that either.
If the T&Cs were changed without any one being notified does this mean that those who signed up prior to 16th Jan can still use the card under the old T&Cs which actually allows you to fill your tank from empty and does not have an admin charged for purchase under £15?
Your input is valued!

Agreed. Although it's entering the realms of COTY, it doesn't affect the basic operation of the club which is the reason I joined.

Personally I don’t think it could be called a reflected drama, the club must show some responsibility over this, it was put to members on their site, which leads people to have confidence that the club has vetted the arrangement and think it is good for their members.
They have the contacts within pump king, that we as individual members do not have, no calls or emails answered on my part, they could go to the top of pump king and put pressure to resolve and issue updates which may make members less concerned.

After a few days of doubt, coupled with deafening silences from their support people I've decided enough is enough. I am just not prepared to risk payment details in the hands of these folks. Cannot get hold of anyone on phone, emails unanswered, duplicate payments, wandering web sites and so on.
Just to be sure I have cancelled the debit card(s) linked one way or another to their system. Bank have confirmed they would not honour any payment request originated with stopped cards.
I probably will return the Esso cards they have sent though I suspect the address is just a service address with no real people.
This scheme could have been good, but it has too many downsides to trust.

My account was debited late yesterday six days after using card (saved £5.01 on garage receipt). Just the one transaction thankfully, but I will be keeping a close eye on bank transactions for now!
No text for next weeks fuel prices yet. Looking back on time stamps of the ones I have recieved, they are sent out somewhere between Friday afternoon/evening.

I finally received a refund for my £105 of unauthorised duplicate payment taken, and started to feel as though things were maybe getting back on track...
Then, today I received another fuel card! I note there appear to be a great many people waiting for cards applied for weeks ago, and here I now have cards I haven't even requested!
I have to say I'm very nervous about the back end reliability of the service, and will be hesitant to use the card again until there are more positive reports.
On a side note, I've read the discussions about min / max quantities of fuel you can drawn on the card - each fill up of my Merc is approaching 100l, and nothing has ever been questioned, so I'm guessing the revised terms with the increased allowance was slipped in quietly.

After weeks of text messages with the prices, yesterday I finally recieved my card..only to find the website to get my pin and details is no longer reachable. Might give up now.
