Thanks Chrystal, probably a bit more for a car and van then. Some research on my part might come up with a similar priced deal.
If I could cross the Solent with car and van in September for around 50 quid each way I think I'd be reasonably satisfied, unless anyone knows better!

£50! I suppose miracles can happen.😁
BVM, I play with the ferry websites, both Red Funnel and Wight Link, and try some dummy bookings. You soon learn which days/times are cheaper and can then compare with the club’s offerings. It has to be balanced with site arrival and departure times though as IoW doesn’t lend itself to parking up with a caravan. You can use Tesco vouchers on WL which might help.

Yes TW I had a go at doing a dummy booking with one of the ferry companies yesterday evening. I didn't realise they needed car height and length as well as van length. That info is in the car handbook in the glove box. Car is tucked up in garage and it was dark and damp last night so didn't fancy rummaging about for it.
Will have another go today and see what I come up with.

Whilst mooching around the club website at ferry operators a chat "thingy" popped up, so I gave it a go.
I told the operator, Rachel, what I had in mind and dates and she came back with a ferry price to IOW for van and car on the dates and times I want for £89.60 + £91 for 5 nights at Southland.
Although she could book me the site she didn't have the facilities to take the ferry booking as this requires payment up front so I would have to book the ferry by phone. As the booking office was closed by the time I had finished my chat with Rachel I'll be on it first thing tomorrow (the booking not the ferry!)
Not used the chat service before, but I will certainly use it again for any queries I might have.

That’s a very good price, BVM. Is it the flexible/refundable fare or the non-refundable one?

TW, don't know I haven't gone into it that far, yet. It is a noon sailing in both directions between So'ton and E. Cowes.
Will tell you more tomorrow when I've booked it.

We go to the Isle of Wight most years, have always compared the Southland site against the other commercial sites. We have never stayed at Southland because of one reason alone the cost of the ferry crossing with the Club. For example travelling in September for a 8 nights. Same dates and same time and crossing for ferry.
Southland Site £179.20
Lower Hyde (Park Resorts) all singing all dancing site £102
Ferry via club £246
Ferry via Park resorts £89
Car, 7.5m caravan. 2 people.
No brainer for me.

TW, booked the ferry this morning and it's flexible/refundable with conditions.
Jb I've just booked the Southland site for 5 nights from 21/3
Southlands £91
Red Funnel SO-Cowes and return, noon sailing in both directions booked through the club £89.60. Car 6.17m van and 2 adults.
I'm happy with that
Portsmouth-Fishbourne came in at almost £130!

It’s a good deal, BVM.👍🏻
I didn’t think RF did refundable options on those offers but, at that price, who cares?😄 It’s half price or less than booking with the ferry company and a great change since last time I checked it out.

I wonder if that is a fair comparison? I have just looked at Lower Hyde and I don't see how you would get a 7.5 metre caravan on the pitch as they state they are only 7mts x7mts although I suppose at £13 a night it would be good value for a smaller outfit? Southlands has much more spacious pitches. Re the price of the ferry, have you actually spoken to the Club because £246 does not seem to have taken into account the discount you would get by booking both ferry and site together. Obviously the club won't offer a discount if you are not using Southlands! The price quoted by Baileyvanman of £91 is a more realistic.

That does seem a good price, we paid £89 in 2013!!!! I think the fact that you are there for just five days gives you an even better discount. Last year we paid £119 for seven days I think but that was a little bit later in the season and we pay a bit more for height. Hope you enjoy Southlands.
