Brexit No Deal - BBC News latest.
"If there is a No Deal Brexit, your driving licence might not be valid by itself when driving in the EU. It means you might have to get hold of an International Driving Permit (IDP) as well, which costs £5.50."
This could well apply after March 29, 2019. I hope that CAMC HQ are being thorough and keeping a close watch on what will, or will not, be happening after this date, and ready to inform and advise members of their position ASAP if immediate constrictions are put in place. We are not due to travel to the EU (France) until May 20th, but have already paid - through CAMC - the deposit for our B/F crossing, and our Red Pennant Motoring and Personal insurance. We have also booked direct our campsite in France, and paid the deposit for that.
It would be a good move if CAMC set up an article on CT and kept us informed of the situation, as it develops, on a daily basis if and when anything changes that could interfere with what we currently know as "normal".

As no one knows what’s happening, perhaps not even the Government, I doubt the club will be any wiser than the rest of us.

It's a good job news journalism isn't covered by the Trades Description Act otherwise the cells would have been full years ago and the keys thrown away!

I've been watching the debate on the Parliament channel. Makes the contentious members on here look like amateurs.

LT - a lot of ground was covered under a thread called:
Brexit 2018 - Travelling to Europe.
You'll find it on page 4 of this section. It's as much use as anything else at the moment and anyway it will help with getting to sleep tonight.

yes if driving in Spain & France i dont think sub post office will issue until 1st Feb but apparently main PO's do them already, and the AA but they charge an admin fee, personally not travelling until March so will just sit on my hands for now, you will need passport photo, current driving licence and i believe valid passport, if you think this is a bit of a nuisance, try getting a dog sorted £400 thus far and counting

we used to get our idp from the local AA office without any problem. am sure that the post office would be just as easy.

If it happens it will be front page news. Not much need for the Club to do much other than update their advice pages.

I was only suggesting HQ could keep us posted anything crucial concerning members travelling abroad as information became available. I was prompted by a relative drawing my attention to the BBC news item regarding IDP, and that I had missed it. I don't bother with the press, but the BBC is a bit more reliable on the news front. Seems as though just trying to be helpful is the green light for criticism on here!

I am so fed up of hearing stories of what may happen after March, I hope the camc do not start to preach to us as well.
If and when anything changes I'm sure we will all have it told to us so many times by the media
Maybe we should be worrying about things we do have a bit of control over, like getting out and enjoying ourselves in our lovely island
