We have stayed at Cae Mawr, it's a lovely site. However some of the no facility sites are now getting expensive. We like the Stamford site, but at over £20 pn in peak season means we now pick our dates more carefully.
Let's hope most people booked before the price hike in December. 0 -
Interesting in that the club cited electricity rises of 25% as a key driver to their additional rises, yet this is a non EHU site

It does have EHU BB, but it doesn't have a toilet block...
However, the increase in electricity costs does not surprise me. If only there was some easy way to encourage members to be frugal with their use, as having leccy "included" only encourages waste in my opinion.

I tend to agree M.
Either that, or the CC have changed the length of peak between the pre and post Dec 5th prices. We have experienced similar percentage increases, for the same dates, between one year and the next when they have stretched the peak period.

That's not correct, BB. The site has EHU but no toilet/shower block.
Geneuk - I can see that you're new to CT and this is your first foray into the forum. Presumably you're keeping a check on the thread, so it'd be good to have some clarification about exactly what nights you and your friends have booked. Because if your quoted figures are indeed correct I think the club has some serious questions to answer.

It’s not something we shall be pondering over. We use Club Sites so selectively nowadays that in truth they are no longer our first choice. They are catering for a different market than us these days. We have been priced out, seasoned out, pitched up too close and closed so much earlier than before that they now feature less and less in our touring plans. The little basic sites, Bromyard, Nunnykirk etc..... still offer us good value, others when compared with hotels/b&b we will use only because we have the MH. But membership is no longer what it was. And I suspect there are many like us.

And the new members joining are not the same either, there is a different feel about club site now more me me me, and bu--er the rest.

I think the reason some of the non facility sites closing earlier they are feeling the growth of the "cannot use our onboard facilities type" as it means work ,rather than a serviced pitch and someone else to clean up after us on facility sites,
One good thing that we find on non facility sites is that you tend find there are a lot more real caravanners and responsible parents

there is, install meters, lots of sites in Spain use meters, then them that want to watch tv, heat their awning, charge their EV etc can do so knowing that they will have to pay, whilst them that use very little pay very little, not rocket science, I was on one site in Spain last year that charged £13 per night with 7kw of electricity thrown in, we used on average over 1 month 6.5 kw per day. Think we have had this discussion before and i think there are lots against this idea, but what was advocated by a few has now happened, increased price, justification increase in electricity usage/prices, watch out

In the past a lower amp MCB could have detered some,but with the latest EHU bollards appearing on club sites,giving users access to the MCBs it does not help,(but does save site staff many callouts to reset)
We noticed that the cl we were on at new year there was a usage meter on each hookup,but with only five LVs it would be easy to work, not sure on a site that has 200+ pitches unless it was a smart card system which would be expensive to set up for no gain for the club

very true, but i think you will find that the majority of people who subscribe to this forum are seasoned cvanners/mh's, where as the newbies tend to be of the younger generation who maybe only use their cvan 3 times per year, so they are looking for something different to those of us who tour all year round. We regularly take our grand kids away with us, but have stopped using club sites because of the grumps who are always complaining, tend to use sites such as Fresh Water Bay with the kids, expensive but very relaxed and lots for them to do.

I have just checked the price of a 'honeypot site' booking we have in the school summer holidays and the increase before and after 5th December is just over a 1% increase. So I agree with others perhaps there is a date, number of nights discrepancy.

The increase for Cae Mawr is less than 2% over the figures I have for last year. Seems OP may have mixed up low and high season prices
For those who want a cheaper site there is a cl 1,5 miles down the road just through Brynteg called Bryn Gornwy. Full facility with HS £16 per night. See my site report of April last year.

The date mix up was what I suspected, although the OP said "exactly the same 5 days". Probably a genuine mistake and from a new poster, but if so, geneuk, you have no need to feel embarrassed, most of us have posted something incorrect at one stage or another. Just come back and let us know.

I must apologize to everybody that submitted comments in reply to my email on the 8/1/2019, also to the chairman of the caravan club.
I was mistaken about the price increase, I made a mistake when booking Cae Mawr site; but I would like to say it was not because I am an OAP: I'm in full possession of my faculties. I must admit our laptop has been playing up lately, but I'm not using that as an excuse.
Again my profound apology to all concerned and for wasting everybody's time: I won't be so hasty to make a comment in future. Regards
