Who is Nick Lomas kidding ?
Interesting to read Nick Lomas editorial in the January 2019 magazine. One wonders who he is kidding when he proclaims that the new booking system has achieved the best ever booking levels. Well of course it will have. Half of us might be dead in the next 12 months but hey ho we can book and cancel with just 72 hours left before the booking at no cost, how does that process support real members who want to book when perhaps 40% of summer bookings will not materlise through cancellations.
How long will it be, as he suggests it will be, before deposits and even longer booking periods arrive. We frankly support deposits and some process that prevents block bookings of Friday and Saturday but come on Nick, give us more credit than to think your new booking system has been a fantastic success . If your confident lets see the ratio of bookings against actual uptakes of bookings. From what every one is saying members are block booking for months or a near year ahead but who will then cancel near the time. This is not a success it's frankly a way of disadvantaging members in real bookings.
Watch this space for deposits and booking restrictions.

"From what every one is saying members are block booking for months …"
I'm not saying that so your statement is already incorrect before we start analysing the rest.
Happy New Year.

Standard Tinwheeler response never constructive, what's new or worth debating. Yes that's a big complex word Debating !!!!!!!

yes please debate without being offensive W&J, why attack TW when he has made a serious and legitimate observation?
you posted:
From what every one is saying members are block booking for months
As TW has not said that, and neither have I has how can that be everyone? So your statement is incorrect.
If the current booking levels are the best ever (or are you saying he is lying?) and he believes they have come from the new booking system then why does he have to be kidding?

I debate the point of "everyone" saying members are block booking and I categorically state that "everyone" is not. I am living proof of that.
Therefore, I am justified in dismissing that point as being totally inaccurate.
Now, did NL really suggest deposits and longer booking periods are on the way? I don’t recall that so a link or actual quote will be appreciated, please.

Good job it's not war, can see how difficult it must have been with individuals simply denying the real facts.

That is totally lost on me W&J. Please could you say what these real facts are, and who is denying them?, or is this a wind-up game to you?

not any, it is just soothsaying

Clearly heading for a committee slot, not even a need to brain wash 🤣

Read the editorial in depth. Let's have the conversation in the Autumn when reality will be fact. Seems there are 3 of you who can only support the club whatever. Pity we cannot get real members views, clearly you regular 3 are never that. Spoils the whole concept of a forum.

Do you know, W&J, I feel so sorry for people who can only ever see the worst in others, for those pessimists who only see doom and gloom and for those who cannot make friends because they demonstrate their miseries and unfriendliness so clearly. It must be such a lonely world they inhabit.

Bye then 😉

sorry but this is one of your wind ups. I have asked you what facts are being denied and you have not replied?

"From what everyone is saying", "Half of us", "40%" Where do these figures come from? Where do the notions that deposits are about to be introduced and that block bookings are significantly and detrimentally effecting the experiences attributed to the new booking system come from?
It's a shame, I'm afraid, as I see no real attempt to open meaningful debate in the OP just some incorrect facts, skewed data and novel interpretation of members wishes, beliefs and booking practices. One does question if the purpose is to promote discord or that there is a hidden agenda to influence decision making for personal benefit.
My personal experience, and I can really only speak for me, is that the new booking system has been by enlarge successful. We've been able to forward plan far better for dates including annual events around the country of interest to us, family get togethers and also those impromptu trips made at the last minute. When all said and done I do have to appreciate that once a site is full, it's full mind, but nothing in the booking ether can change that, can it?

agree fully especially with your last sentence in paragraph two,
Like you were have found the new system works very well to our advantage. We have booked 'honeypot' sites that we never got before and it's a nice feeling seeing my bookings spread over a year.

I think that a 'real member' for W&J is one that agrees with them?

....even if the prices for some might be wrongly shown?
