Spain in January
we are travelling from Bilbao to Conil de la Frontera in a weeks time. Can anyone suggest somewhere to stop overnight in our motorhome approx half way down. Is it safe to stay on motorway facilities? Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated. Happy New Year.

Agree with above suggestions, Caceres is a good stop. If you have an ACSI Card, it is an ACSI Site. Town is worth an explore, if you wish to linger. Salamanca another place worth a visit, although, we have not stayed there overnight. Although the general advice is not to use Motorway Services as stops, we have done this, in both France and Spain, and lived to tell the tale. As always, be cautious, we would only stay at "manned" service areas, and, only if it "felt" safe, no point staying if you do not feel comfortable with it, you are not going to sleep soundly!

Would agree with staying at Camping Regio and bussing into Salamanca. Only thing is make sure you have enough drinking water on board. We stayed there in December and everywhere was frozen and when I asked where to get my water from was directed to the tap directly over the toilet emptying point.

yes, definitely travel 'full' in the long trip south, as using some aires, we also use our shower....
will fill on Monday before leaving for the ferry.

Hi
Just a reminder regarding full water tanks. The last week we have had temps. of -3 every morning here (just south of Alicante) so I reckon further north will be colder. Don't want frost damage at the start of your journeys?!
