More Bureaucracy Mk 2

I may be having a senior moment but yesterday I started a thread drawing members attention to the proposed new legislation by the EU to introduce a 'min-visa' type document. I included a link to the BBC website article which I am now unfortunately unable to locate.

It is intended to run for 3 years and cost €7. Whilst this is another bit of tedious paper, the biggest impact may be for those who do extended touring/ snowbirds as it restricts visits to 90 days in any 180 day period.

Moderator Comment - The original thread was removed simply because it immediately went off topic with name calling. There is no issue with posting factual information about Brexit but this forum does not allow political discussions so please be mindful of that when replying to such threads.

You certainly did post CY, I read the thread, several replies too. I couldn't post as my tablet had no text box. Back today 😉.

Not coming in until 2021 and will apply to all non EU I believe.

It was indeed SL. Your search skills on the Beeb website obviously exceed mine.

Don’t think the bureaucracy will be too onerous, it’s certainly not expensive at €7 for 3 years

As I said yesterday, it merely joins the other expenses we are obliged to pay that we do not normally see here such as Eco tax on pollution in cities, Tourist tax, Extra Vets fees etc, Toll tax on roads (I know, I know). 7€ isn't going to be a deal breaker on whether you go or stay.

Read on another forum that its to 90 days in any 180 days.

If that is the case then that will have an impact on many who tour twice a year.

Ooops sorry CY see you put that in your post, teach me to read it properly embarassed

False news. It won’t happen because it’s unnecessary.

Being unnecessary is probably the very reason why they'll bring it in ...  😁

Bit like China and USA at the moment. If they curtail 'this' then we will cut 'that' short.

Not sure how the country of entry will work.

To use the ETIAS authorization correctly, you must first pass through the first country you stated in your application. If you were planning to go through Germany, Belgium, and Austria, and you stated in your application that the first country you will visit is Germany, you must go through it before you visit Belgium and Austria. After you enter your first country, you can visit any other country in the Schengen Zone for 90 days.

If one puts France as first country but on a subsequent visit the first destination is Belgium, Holland or Spain, what then?

A Government spokesperson has allegedly indicated that the Minister for Caravan and Motorhome Staycation Affairs is in the final stages of entering a White paper on a 'Return to the UK Fee' for those who have the temerity to venture to Mainland Europe after March 2019.

This is specifically for Caravan and Motorhome owners who, after having a crippling €7 charge for a European Visa, will have to apply to return to the UK and have to pay for the privilege to return to their homes.

The Fee is not yet known but the proceeds should keep the Westminster Bars stocked in the coming years.
