Hi new to this so hopefully I'm in the right place to ask the question.  We're touring for the first time and would like to go to Edinburgh festival.  Does anyone have any experience of what the transport arrangements are like for getting to the festival from Edinburgh Caravan Club site.

thank you

Gill

No idea from Edinburgh Site, but the coastal rail link from North Berwick  into Edinburgh Waverley Station and Princes Street is very good, so Yellowcraig Site would be our choice of stay, much nicer Site. Around a couple of miles to station at NB from Yellowcraig.

I would google Edinburgh bus routes, city seemed to be well served by buses when we stayed. Not sure if trams go to Leith area.

On my two visits to Edinburgh we have stayed at the Club site and Morton Hall. The latter was some time ago and I seem to recall that it has a bus route pretty near to the site. The Club site has a longer walk to the bus (always difficult to judge or assume other peoples mobility) Not sure if they still do it but the Club site used to run a shuttle service to and from the City Centre.

The bus still runs but never used it as being familiar with Edinburgh I am happy to drive into town.

Have you got a booking already.....?

The site appears to be more or less fully booked.

Unless you are going to refrain from a meal with wine or a visit to the many real ale pubs,  I would suggest that you don't take your car into the City Centre during the Festival.

We always use the Train from West Lothian to the Edinburgh city centre during the festival. ---30 minutes each way and 4 pounds each for the return fare. ----Parking charges if you are lucky enough to find a space would cost a lot more.

Thank you all for your replies.  We have managed to book in to club site for 3 nights so will take our chances with public transport.

Hi Y321 we have been regular visitors to the fringe and use the club site. The buses are plenty from the bus stop 10 mins away (for us but depending on walking ability). It takes you right into the city and you can get off at numerous stops whether you want to get off near princess street or The Royal Mile. There is a good app for your phone from Lothian buses which tracks your bus and tells you where your bus is on its route and therefore how far away it is from you. It is one price for the ticket I think £1.35 each and you need correct money as they don't give change. Make sure you pick up a copy of the PBH free fringe pamphlet too as there are some really good performances. Whistle Binkies across from the Tron has some good early comedy usually from 10am. The Cite Cafe also good for a breakfast. Hope this helps 😊

Ps I think the bus is no. 27
