Book Soon!

We have just got the email about price increases from Dec 5th. Makes our choice to cancel Club Site booking and take a cottage instead an even better decision!
I wouldn’t half like to be a fly on the wall at some of the Club marketing meetings and decision making. That’s earlier price increases to add onto early closing of a few sites this year, the picture is starting to look as though some belt tightening is going on. Which means less choice and more expense for members.
As the Club has some sites on a lease basis, I wonder if this is having an impact at all?

they say it's because of utilities etc going up. Have they ever heard of switching, I pay less now than 5 years ago for my gas and elec and water since meter fitted is half the price. I think they need to do some renegotiating with there suppliers.

JVB. All site details have a price "from" as a lead in for each adult and a pitch. The club indicates that this will help those seeking to compare prices, no doubt there will be the usual "fixed" prices too. It also says that members without internet access can ask for a paper price list. So in some ways this saves on the problems of prices going out of date but still shows a range of potential prices.

I believe the polite term for such interesting communication is “ a right bloody shambles....”

But are the two different? If they are showing the same price then it could well be another way to disguise a extra increase.

I won't be booking soon! I don't use Club sites enough to be bothered about increases and I will always look at the alternatives in any area. It will be interesting to compare commercial increases with those of the Club
I note some of the increase is based on increased energy and utility costs and in particular a 25 percent rise in electricity costs! Surely this cannot be due to the supply company? My household cost have not increased by that much and the government is capping costs so is it down to increased consumption? If so it really is time the Club got to grips with controlling use.
While it is an inclusive cost rather than pay for what you use it will never be under control.

Where have you read of a 25% increase in the cost of electricity, PD? Can you supply a link, please?
Doesn’t the capping of costs only apply to domestic users?

It was a link provided by the Club in their email which led me >here<. Even if it only applies to domestic rates, commercial rates have on average only increased 9.8. percent between Sept 2017 and Sept 2018.
Looks to me as its down to excessive consumption

Thanks. I couldn’t see a link in the email but see it’s in FAQs.
I note that it’s a 25% increase in costs of electricity, rather than usage. It is hoped the club is on the ball in negotiating the best deals.

Not necessarily, PD, and I think we would be urged to reduce consumption if that was the case.
Whatever, it’s not going to bother you personally as you don’t use club sites much. I think that’s the option for us all - pay up or don’t use club sites.

Noooooo Tinny don’t go all logical with your-‘pay up or don’t use club sites’ we don’t want to isolate the disaffected, they give me lots of giggles😂😂😂

Is that not the case already? Doesn't seem to be doing much good. With site increased winter use and a reduction of use in peak season (from the AGM minutes) consumption is only going to increase and force prices up.

I think I am right in saying that in the past the Club have just increased site prices with little in the way of explanation. This year, maybe because of the change in the booking system, they have tried to be a bit more transparent about it. Good to see that on 23 sites prices will not increase and some of those 23 are pretty popular. I have been critical of the Club in the past for not being very good at member communication but now they are making an effort they seem to be dammed if they do and dammed if they don't!!!

The club said “… for example electricity costs have risen by over 25%”. “Electricity costs” does not necessarily refer only to consumption as it can mean the price per unit and also the costs of installation, maintenance and testing.
That’s what I was suggesting when I said the increase did not necessarily reflect increased consumption.
Still, let’s not be doom mongers, eh? On the positive side, there are EHU-free CLs, the other club and thousands of other choices if you don’t want to pay for lekky. Alternatively, some can continue to give Rocky and me the giggles. 👍🏻🤣

I am sure there are some of us that thrive on detail but I suspect we are considerably outnumbered by those that just want the minimum and I suspect it is those members that the Club are addressing?

While some of us just accept it for what it is on the basis of knowing alternatives exist and the choice is all ours.😀
