Don't know about the website, but we opted out of emails but got the email. I was surprised as we didn't usually get email from CAMC. It prompted me to check, doubt the x inserted 😂 and then decided yes we had opted out! Another example of IT 😯
Edit certainly not on the front page. But what is interesting is join and get a free night PLUS as you scroll down cost 51, (updated Samsung and cant find the pound sign, now symbols like typewriter keyboard so have to use shift!) DD single fee 51 plus a joining fee of 10 😲
Edit edit tried a mock booking but have to admit I gave up, selected start date, asked to select departure date NOTHING HAPPENED no new progress screen 😤😤😤

Definitely too clever.
I’m in the same category as B2 with my opt outs and have made no bookings.

Caravan holidays are only cheaper if one takes lots of them or long trips .
Caravan holidays meant that from the start of the 80s my wife , 2 children and myself could afford 80 nights away in the caravan each year. We could not have afforded that if we had used hotels. On top of the hotels is the cost of getting meals out of course.
Most of the Club sites that we used were non facility or CLs and, of course, we had no EHU in our 1973 caravan.

think you have mis-remembered the sketch there BB, as you started with your tale of woe, I should have countered it with an even woe-er tale, I didn't I went upwards

yes agree +1
It is what you want from a 'holiday', some seem happy with one week/two weeks slot whereas like you I preferred something all year round.

As i posted elsewhere in our storage compound (500+ units) very few are used very often if at all as there are numerous "green" LVs motor and towed in there there must be now over 100 motor caravans that are now stored round the perimeter fence and they seem to move less often than towed c/vans ,so it must be quite an expensive "status symble " as holidays go

only six weeks a year holiday ??? slavery I call it

Thinking about this latest round of price increases it appears to me that the club has been very canny. Once they started the rolling booking in 2018 they increased the prices for the sites for 2019, which was to be expected. Then come this November and they sneak in another increase claiming additional fuel costs. The result is that the total price increase from 2018 to 2019 is now well above the cost of inflation. Claiming then that they have held the cost for some sites is just a smoke screen, as those sites have already had a price increase - see above. On top of that they add an extra £1 to the membership fees.

Ive not bothered to read all the way through this long thread, so I apologize if this crosses with anything already said.
Due to this pending club site price increase, the annual membership breaching £50 and the loss of the M6 Toll discount which, when you live in the Midlands was a fantastic perk... as of yesterday (30th Nov) my (our, as it was a joint membership) has ceased. After 9 years, I never up until this point, thought I’d do this and, as plenty may recall, I often fought the corner of this Club and appreciated changes recently made, such as forward booking and the removal of frenzy day. I also understood and supported the name change but...
the recent price increases in annual membership and now this club site price increase, has gone too far and it has clearly, to me at least, been applied to cover loss of income due to poor marketing and failing appeal to bring in more membership.
I explained all this to the guy from membership services I spoke to on the phone, plus, I said the club need to get with the times and offer a reduced membership for a digital copy of the monthly rag, in place of print. The staff member completely understood my reasoning and promised to pass on my thoughts to those above him. He said he hopes we’ll be returning members again in the future. We’ll see.
So folks, that’s it, it’s been a blast (mostly) GodivaNige (NigelAsh) signing off. I wish you all, including those I often disagreed or argued with, happy touring.

even though you have not renewed and it's your money and I respect your decision there is no need to stop posting though G&N?

Fair do Nige. I was never interested in going Southwards on the M6 preferring the other trunk roads. Can't say that I thought the increase in membership fee to be that outrageous. As for site fee increases I have no idea how reasonable or otherwise I might consider the increases to be as I have not seen evidence of the increase amounts.
It depends how much one uses CC sites as to whether they are considered to be worth re-joining the club. For me personally CC sites have accounted for 55 of my 110 nights away so far this year and so I do value access. I will also be spending 15 nights away in December using a CC site. (The only time I stay anywhere for more than 5 nights).
If your membership is just up for renewal I suppose that it might be a good time for you to not renew and just to see how any changes pan out.

Comparing the site prices of sites I stayed on this year with next years prices the increases look to be about 3 to 3.5 percent. However none facility site have increased by from £14 to £15 which is a 7 percent increase!

The 'no facs' sites have risen 50% in the past six years.

It seems to me that non facility sites just automatically get a £1 increase each and every year and from accounts heard in person by me and several other CL users, this attitude seems to be repeating for CLs.
Sorry to see people leaving but for everything in life once a certain plateau has been reached then it's time to look around. It's a bit like energy prices. I can afford the recent increase notified by EDF but I chose to change supplier, same with Insurance.
Fortunately I still get good value by using CLs, ferry discounts and some other discounts such as Cotswolds and Mountain Warehouse to make it worthwhile staying.
I do feel though that the excess wastage of money used by the Club in the name change could have served members better by holding down prices.

Good post. You are following in the path of many previous CMC customers who found that the CMC no longer offered value for money commiserate with what they provide . What you will now find is that there are superb alternative Campsites in more scenic locations and offering a higher quality of caravanning/Motorhoming experience.
All the best for your future touring. Enjoy !!
