We've both declined flu jabs again - I had one a few years ago while I was having some blood tests - but never since.
We're sound and healthy in body and in mind (apart from various creaky bones), and have never had flu. Maybe it's a cold house and fresh air that works for us.

As far as I am aware, if we go to pharmacy we would have to pay, pharmacy has not been offered as an alternative so far.
Our practice seemed well organised, we were sent a date and a time slot......say 8-12 or 2-5......and we could turn up when it suited. OH had to queue about 15 minutes, on my day (the oldies) it was quiet and I got straight in.
They had all the doctors and nurses in doing vaccinations on the Saturday when OH was there, normally they are closed on Saturdays.

In England there are two vaccines one for the under 65s made up of four parts, The other for most of us who post on here
which is made up of three parts,and i understand that one of the problems for the shortage was that the vaccine for us
was altered earlier in the year which then did not give enough time to organise a large enough supply for all those who would give the injections so it was "rationed" until this latest batch could be produced,which by then no one was sure how many more to order, and they still as is now being found, were left short (surgeries mostly)and unable to put another order in,and our local pharmacy is now fully booked until Dec with appointments ,but they say as they are part of a big chain,a shortage should not? arise

We heard that Nicola waited too long to place her order so there was not enough of the new vaccine for everyone up here.
So the new one is meantime limited to the over 75s, however the other one is being given to all others that qualify, either 65+ or maybe it is 60+, plus to anyone who wants to pay at the pharmacies.
So the 60-75s are no worse off than last year.

When you hear that it's the over 75s who are most affected by the effects of flu etc it is at least going to help those most in need and as you say others have access to the usual vaccine.

!)I got my Old Goats Jab last month on a Saturday Special Opening of the Surgery. Two Queues operating and organising clerk kept asking " Any '65s' out there ?? ". Got no takers at least while I was there, but the whole procedure took no more than ten minutes including the How do you rate our service questionnaire, and creeping past the Charity stall they'd set up to part us from our hard earned in exchange for home baked CAKES !! If I'd collected one of them I reckon one of the nurses would have confiscated it in 35 seconds flat.

Flu jabs up here are for the over 65's Kj, this is the first year I've not had to pay for it
appointment first week of Dec for the pneumococcal jab made again, I had to cancel the first one as I had a bad cold.Our surgery was busy the day we went down for our jabs but it was well organised.They had 3 nurses on each doing a different age group. They wouldn't give me my pneumococcal along with the flu jab as they had done in previous years, this year it was just flu jab and nothing else. All other jabs like pneumococcal and shingles to be done at a later date.
Very wet again today
we went out this morning to get some wood for the upstairs room, also looked at carpets for up there. Didn't get one yet though as we still have a fair bit of work to do before that stage. Nice to get the mucky stuff out of the way Been working on an outline plan for next years trip to Europe. We've got a fancy for the Italian lakes so have been gathering info, its been about 30 years since we were last in Italy with a caravan and we've never been to the lakes.
Time to move into the kitchen and make dinner

A dreary overcast day but well spent walking alongside the River Dee. About 7 miles in total with a "Spit and Sawdust" pub halfway around. Nice pint as it was Timothy Taylor👍.
We needed to call in at M&S in Cheshire Oaks Outlet village before going home. We'd completely forgotten it was Black Friday

Cold day here today. We have finally settled on what to do for next years "main holiday" we are going to head to the clubs New Forest Centenery site for a couple of weeks booked it tonight. Its an area we have never been to so it will be nice exploring a new area.

Best of luck with planning your tour next year Tammygirl. I remember the days when we used start planning our European tour about this time of year. Happy days.
It will probably be Norfolk for us this year, possibly for three weeks and then various other trips as well - hopefully.I have deliberately avoided Black Friday today. Didn't go into town and no internet shopping either. We are off to Anglesey Abbey tomorrow evening with the family for their Winter Lights. It is always a lovely evening out and a great start to Christmas for us.

Not been out the house today as we went shopping twice yesterday!
On Flu injections I have had them for years and well under the suggested age. The reason being is Margaret as she has diabetes so they don't want me putting her at risk!!! I think when we tried to book our surgery had run out but they quickly got new supplies.

Having worked for the NHS for many years I am a great believer in the flu jab. I had it all the time I worked there and now I have it because OH has chest problems and it could be very dangerous if he got flu. I do wish everyone who is eligible would have it as you could pass on flu to someone who is vulnerable before you realise that you have it.

I am glad you got your jabs OK Nellie. We got ours done at the first flu clinic held at our GP surgery a couple of months ago. We had to queue for 40 minutes to get in though surprised
We phone up and booked our date while we were away and were given a time for the appointment. Arrived early,,,straight in to see the nurse and both out again within 3 mins...simples.
As it happens we've been lucky with all our appointments since we got home on Monday. As well as the Flu Jab, OH was early for her hair appointment and her hairdresser was waiting, and then at the Vets Flyte was straight in for his Parvo booster. Hope that the trend continues when we go to the Dentist on Tuesday.

Thanks Millie, its been interesting looking at places, getting other folks views and comments. We've been 'doing' France now twice a year for 7 years with a bit of Spain thrown in so going to Italy/Austria for the first time in 30 years will be a new adventure (I hope a nice one)
I'm sure you will make it to Norfolk and all the other things you still want to do, your just having a re-boot at the moment

Yes we will probably stop off at Chapel Lane C&MC site. We usually stop there on the way south in the summer it takes us about 5 and a half hours to Chapel Lane towing so it means we do most of the journey on the first day and then a shorter journey the next day.

We are now pitched up at Moreton in Marsh, the site is full as its Moreton's Christmas Market and light switch on today. Sorry I Haven't managed to catch up with all the posts as not looked in for a few days. Hope all holiday plans are going well. Poorly dog today. Can't even walk straight and keeps falling over. Been to the vets who has confirmed our suspicion - a really bad ear infection. Three injections, a course of antibiotics and some ear fluid. Hope that will sort her out. Back to the vets on Wednesday to check on her.

Thanks RK. I think she'll be OK, given time. The vet said her one ear was very red/inlamed inside and she wasn't keen on the vet messing with the ear. Didn't like the injections either, so she is feeling very sorry for herself now. Hopefully the metoclopramide with make her feel a bit better and less sick feeling. The dexafort and synulox should help with the infection.

DSB hopefully your poorly dog will recover. I feel for her having a dose of something similar 18 months ago.
Grey and dull, dull, dull here again. Some showers this morning. Not as cold as yesterday but certainly cool breeze in the open. Took the dog for good run out this morning, she was having a shower on her return regardless but she certainly made it worthwhile 😲😲. Guiness dog and some. The ponds are very low and the mud mucky I reckon the serpentine lake, not the Hyde park one, is 6 foot down! All smart for arrival if our son and DIL2B later, they need never know 😉😉. They are here for B&B 😉 party with old colleagues tonight then dinner with farming returnees, those like DIL2B who went off and pursued a different career path - physio for her, before returning to help or take over family farms tomorrow. Sadly they'll take the dog 😢😢
Been presenting a moving target for the last couple of days, OH getting back to normal slowly! Mum discharged from hospital care Thursday. We were late being called in by more thann15 minutes, despite signs saying running to time 😉. That said we were back at mum's one hour and five minutes after her appointment time.

Poor little lass. Sadly floppy ears are a problem. We use ear wipes and cleaning drops on a regular basis. Have to because one of our Labs had major ear surgery couple of years ago, and she now has a touch of a cauliflower ear!

Just had a quote from a tree surgeon to give our silver birch a shot back and sides. Costs more than it did to put the flaming thing in in the first place.

I've done absolutely nothing today, except I delegated a picture hanging task to OH (Black Friday half price canvas photo print...
) Anyway the air turned into a Blue Saturday...but it does looks quite nice. Hope little Lizzie recovers soon, we've been lucky with recent dogs but have had those problems in the past.
Enjoy Moreton Helen, we've been there at this time of the year and enjoyed the festivities.
Tree surgeons, yes very expensive...another job for Mr Brue when he's got over the picture hanging, up a bit down a bit session.

Drove over to Bury today to pick MIL up after she had sorted out her sisters bungalow with her brother and SIL. Brother still not with it. Anyway we took all disposable rubbish to the tip, bagged rest for house clearance and charity shops. Her sister had 3 coats and numerous handbags and shoes that still had original price tags on so someone will get some good stuff.
We then took MIL to lunch en route to Rivington, where we make our annual respects to the ashes of FIL. Rivington was heaving.
Have to admire MILs stamina, both physical and mental. Not far off 86 she spent 8 hours on Friday and Saturday sorting out things including funeral arrangements. Funeral not until mid December so she and Mrs WN have decided to continue with their weeks holiday to Madeira in a weeks time. She needs some rest.
More NHS waste as surgery delivered full medication to her sisters bungalow on Friday despite being told of her demise last Monday!

Nothing exciting today, weather typical for this time of year, cold wet and grey, though we did get a little bit of blue sky and sun for all of 10 mins so I suppose I mustn't complain.
Went to see Mum this morning, she was sat in a chair nodding off when we got there. Brightened up no end once she came to
very chatty right up until we left at lunchtime.Sorted the big freezer out this afternoon I now know what we will be eating for the next week or so to make room for Christmas food
The OH set up the Wii for me so I can do some exercise, I'm fed up with the weather so I'll do something inside in the warmth. Need to make room in my clothes before the cruise
Managed to sell the wheel clamp that we had for the caravan and bought another one which fits in the foot well of the car better for when we are travelling, sold one for £50 bought one for £40 so a good deal.
