Oi you.
Yesterday on a site, the male toilet block was closed for cleaning, this left the standby toilet available for use. We were off out for the day, so we drove down to the toilet block and noticed that someone was just going in to the standby loo, so we parked and waited for the gentlemen to leave. We weren't parked blocking any access or interfering with the motor-home service point which was behind us. Hubby who was driving saw that the toilet was now vacant and went off to use the facilities. I sat in the car minding my own business when a male warden appears from nowhere and bellows at me Oi you, move that car. Why are you parked there, bloody woman drivers. Before I could react and explain he had disappeared in to the male bock. Husband comes out of the standby and walks to the car, gets in and starts the car and says who was that shouting. I explain that it was the warden shouting at me, he was all for getting out and sorting him out. Why do the caravan club continue to employ these grumpy old people to work on their sites, its one of the reasons we hate to visit CMC sites, even if your not doing anything wrong you are made to feel guilty about something. No wonder the club cant attract the younger generation.
Rant over.

That was an unpleasant experience, JB.
It really ought to be brought to the club's attention. Have you contacted them direct?

Yes TW I have contacted the club, not holding my breath to get a reply though. Some of these people employed are just subsidising their pension and have no customer skills at all. Is working for the club limited to retired or early retirees do you know?

That's intolerable from anyone and if Mrs M had been spoken to in that way we (she! ) would have made a point of finding out the name of the warden and challenging him there and then. Might also suggest he went to Specsavers if you were sitting in the passenger seat and clearly not the driver of the car!

Jazzbaby, , You are quite right to report to H/Office and highlight to other customers when you or any of your family have been treated in an antisocial and rude manner by a paid employee of any company. In this case it was concerning an employee of the CMC. I do hope you get a satisfactory reply, but don't hold your breath. On the subject of the age of the employee, it matters not.. Rudeness can be found in all age groups. I realise why you did not identify the actual site on the open forum. But to help other customers avoid the same experience, it might be helpful to hint at the general location. It won't deter the die hard CMC fanatics for whom the CMC can do no wrong, but for normal customers it might prove to be helpful.

If you have experienced such an attitude on a CC site then by all means report it. However do not label the older members of our society working as site staff as 'grumpy old people'. This is equally as offensive to me as the treatment that you apparently experienced. Having been a user of CC sites from the age of 28 until the present time (35 out of the last 38 years) I have never received such treatment as you described and nor has any member of my party.
As for your comment 'No wonder the club cant attract the younger generation' do you suspect that the 'old people' such as my self are likely to be more accepting of such treatment than younger people might be? If so then I suggest that you think again.

CC Ltd pays so badly that its employees need to have a second income.
Surely if that were the case then it would also apply to many workers within the UK who receive a similar remuneration rate whilst also paying for all their electricity and heating.

You just can't help yourself, can you, K? A perfectly reasonable post and then that last sentence which some might think equally culpable as far as giving offence is concerned!

Not 'defenders of the faith' Hakinbush. Just users of CC sites who have (in my case) never been dissatisfied by the level of service on CC sites. The comments that I have read on here say that the staff action reported was unacceptable as was any apparent blanket suggestion that 'old people' are grumpy. Have you by chance been reading between some none existent lines?

The site staff only get electric as part of their contract, gas has to be paid for (unless club accommodation),and can also mean higher home insurance premiums, heating should be low any way for the time of year most site staff are employed,

a warden has no right to speak to you like that in any circumstances and the last part is clearly sexist and inappropriate (and would be a disciplinary offence when I worked). I certainly would have seen the head warden and perhaps if no sincere apology was forthcoming asked them for their manager's name and would have written in.

Returning to the original post. My interpretation is this. If the vehicle was improperly parked surely the approach should have been "could you move the car please" or something along those lines. What was said whether by an older or younger staff member was unacceptable.
In my experience nearly all the wardens I have encountered deliver customer service very well. Obviously not the case here. Surely customer service skills must be the first priority when employing wardens.

You have had a bad experience of one person and it is totally unfair to tar everyone of a certain age with the same brush. Grumpiness is not the exclusive preserve of the over sixties!!! Of course the situation could have been dealt with more diplomatically but he would not have intervened had you not, seemingly, broken some rule or other? I am sure the Club will investigate your complaint. You do have a couple of other options available to you, you could write a review and if you are signed up to receive the surveys you could complete that and there is plenty of opportunities to express your concerns on staff behaviour.

another mis-timed post, sorry JB if you are not happy with the treatment you received then do report directly to HQ which i believe you did, if you do not get a satisfactory response, then, maybe have a debate on this forum for what it is worth. Touching briefly on the OP, i have never experienced this sort of behaviour from any wardens on any site, but also what seems to have been overlooked by many is that for many wardens the job is not just about subsidising an exisiting pension, it is a life style, many work the UK summer months in the UK on club sites or similar, then during the winter months go to warmer places, some to work others just to chill, for many their caravan/mh is their home, unless they were planning to give this up and maybe retire full stop, i doubt they would have risked not getting future employment with the club as a result of customer complaints. Maybe JB you just caught a warden on an off day, we all have them, and it is end of season

Many (but not all) of the customers who place adverse comment, complaint, or suggestions of how CC Ltd could improve on CT usually seem to offer 'suggestions' aimed just at their personal requirement and likes without consideration beyond that. Might I suggest an improvement in making departure and arrival times 11am
I suspect many staff are relatively happy with their terms and conditions, including pay, when taking account of other personal circumstances

groan groan groan not that old chestnut, another 100 pages of worthless dribble that ends up with the same result "the more something changes the more it remains the same"
