France June 2019 - site recommendations

Just booked our ferry (Hull to Zeebrugge) for June next year.   Got a great deal by adding site vouchers however there are no sites listed on the CMC site within the region we want to visit.    Not too much of a problem, just a bit annoying. 

Therefore, would like any recommendations for sites around Albert, Arras etc (can you tell hubby is interested in the visiting the Somme area)

Doesn't need to be all singing and dancing, just a nice site to use as a base to visit the area (although for me a pool might be nice).    This one http://www.la-paille-haute.com/ has been recommended but not sure if it's a bit far away.    Advice on the area would also be appreciated.

    Camping du Chateau et de l'Oseraie at Feuilleres ( about 12 miles from Albert ) gets good reviews but I have no knowledge of it.

    You state that your husband is interested in visiting the Somme area. Presumably he has done some research about the places he is interested in visiting. You ask for advice on the area - I'm not sure what you require. Have you looked at guide books about the area? If you don't yet have one, you may be able to borrow one from your public library.

    Do you have a copy of the Club's "Caravan France" book of campsites. We have an old edition which has entries for a few sites near Albert. There is one site in the current ACSI Camping Card book. According to "Caravan France" the site you mention is 12km from Arras. Only you and your husband can decide if that is "a bit far away".

    As regards recommendations for sites, what one person likes another may not so it can be a little tricky.

    Thank you all.    Dunelm, I'm sure hubby has a plan of what he wants to see/do.   I know he wants to go to Thiepval but the rest is in planning.    It would be helpful to have suggestions for sites of all types, as we do like recommendations and are easy to please. 

    Another David and ET, thanks for the suggestion - good to know about not booking as we have booked on previous visits to France but later in the summer.

     This site in Peronne might be fairly convenient for that area http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/camping_du_port_de_plaisance.html We have stayed at Camping La Paille Haute but only as an en route site but it would have been fine for a longer stay. WE have also stayed here http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/camping_municipal_les_trois_cloc.html which is within walking distance of the town centre.

    Paille-Haute is quite close to Arras and popular with people visiting the war memorials. We use it as a night halt returning to Calais. It is ACSI, modest, but a good site.

    If Hubby interested in Somme area you could use this site https://www.parcdescygnes.com situated at Amiens a few miles along the road from Albert. The Somme runs close by the site. A riverside path takes you into Amiens..(cycle or walk). As others say.. no need to book in June..

    The Historial at Peronne is well worth a visit. Gives the background to the origins of WW1 as well.

    Would also suggest the site at Peronne we stayed there last year to 'do' some of the Somme. The site at Amiens is also another favourite, the Cathedral there is worth a visit too.

    We stayed at Les Puits Tournants, at Sailley Le Sec which took Camping Cheques in 2016 but I don't know if they take the new vouchers. Photos and description on the site in my blog.
