Met up with friends for coffee this morning, caught up with all the gossip.
OH not been feeling very well today, got home from work and he'd gone to bed early.
Good luck with the new caravan hunting Oneputt.
Hope you have a lovely break HD, and hope it's good news from the consultant David.
Enjoy Warwick Wherenext.

Hope that your consultant and the insurers give you the go ahead to drive soon David.
Have a good trip to the New Forest, HD
Get well soon, TG, these colds seem to hang on for ages, don't they?
Best of luck finding your new van OP. I keep looking but cannot find one that would suit us better than the one we have at present. The best layout I spotted in a Clubman ES, but after all the reports about Lunars I'll certainly give them a miss.

Took down my porch canopy yesterday. It had finally become past repair. Hasn't done too badly though as I built it about twelve years ago. They are coming to fit a new GRP one this afternoon although that only has a ten year guarantee. Should see me out though.

Woken up with sore throat runny nose and ache all over - thanks Tammygirl 😂. Was to take mum to a couple of appointments this morning but don't want to pass it on, was going to phone my brother but OH said he'd cover, bless him.
Was OH birthday Monday, my little firework! Booked a coach trip way back to see Tina at the Aldwych. Having grand-dog complicated it a bit but friend came in to do a relief visit between 8 and 9 pm as once the tickets arrived I learned the show was 2.45 hours 😲😲. Show was BRILLIANT very powerful voices physically lead had Tina off very well. Great atmosphere and dancing and singing at the end. So glad we'd organised friends visit for grand-dog gridlock traffic everywhere, an hour to reach Fenchurch street 😲😲. Finally walked in the front door 0045 having gone out at 1545. Felt sorry for the driver and those going on down to Clacton on Sea, a good 3/4 hour on from us.
On the plus side we went up the A13 bringing us into London passing the Tower of London, huge crowds, but we were high enough in the coach to catch glimpses of the lighted laterns in the moat. Didn't appear to be as impressive as the poppies, same artist, but saves a separate visit before 11th.
Enjoy your day folks.

Wet and windy here today was already rating when BBC east weather girl "advised"it would rain later in the far east,
Off to see Bohemiun Rhapsody again today with friends this time "have booked back row "double seats
"
Have recd e-mail from our local neighbourhood policing team with some interesting info
1 They have reduced anti social behavior in a black spot by 37% getting offenders to do litterand rubbish clearing in the area where all their "friends"could see them
2 They did a speed check in an area that had requested a lower speed limit,27% of those reported were locals and two were also from the campaign for a reduction

That's really interesting JVB. What a good idea to get the anti social offenders to do litter picking in their own area. Love that! I bet there were some embarrassed faces amongst the locals caught in the speed check.
I hope you feel betters soon Bakers2. Glad you had such a good night out.

Shouldn't you post this in UK Campsites?
0 -
Ah but is it new, or a buy out?
From a personal point of view, I would prefer the Club to be looking for a presence in the Hadrians Wall area, it’s like a black hole up there for decent stop overs. Long time since Hexham Racecourse and Fallowfield Dene were part of Club network.

Doubt it, JV. I rarely dabble here but always look at UK sites. By chance I spotted it on one of my dabbles.
Is Yorkshire in need of another club site?🤔
We'll be told all about it in due course.

I love Yorkshire but there other priorities in filling in gaps IMHO.
A day of sitting at the computer and getting things sorted including ordering a new passport. Disappointed to note that they don not carry any unexpired portion over into new one. Used the new photo system that allowed Max Spielman to allocate a code after getting my identikit piccies done there.

I'm sure there was a mention of a site near Castle Howard before...perhaps I dreamt it?
Sitting in the van this afternoon, blustery showers in Cumbria but not cold and some lovely autumn colours. Will try loading a view of Derwentwater yesterday in the sunshine.
Hope TG and B2 feel better soon.

I'm trying to start to think about Christmas - at least writing some lists. I've made one important purchase - rather a lot of wine from Three Choirs Vineyard - LINK. I know it's not cheap, but we like it and so say "why not?".
I've been putting off making detailed plans in case someone has a secret plan. My Birthday (significant) is a few days before Christmas and I thought maybe, just maybe, someone has arranged something. But no, it seems not. Our children and grandchildren will all be here on The Day, so we've booked a meal out for thirteen of us. And it wouldn't be unlucky if our daughter's partner didn't have to work!
OH struggles with presents - Birthdays seem to creep up on him and he has to buy two presents at once. I've tried subtle hints, but I don't really want to know - I like surprises.
I know I should support local shops, but the Internet is wonderful!

A few years ago a family friend had a special birthday coming up and secretly his family and friends had arranged a special overnight do. He decided that no-one had bothered and near his birthday rang up everyone to invite them to a do that he had arranged...chaos reigned! So the family had to tell him.
Hope you enjoy yours Goldie!

There's still Nunnykirk. That's only about 15 -20 miles away from Hadrian's Wall

Not a bad start to the day but by this afternoon we had rain on and off.
Decided to go up to the attic room and give it a clean out and store stuff at one end as OH is going to be doing some work up there and there will be brick dust everywhere. He started back in the summer but then had to stop it to go on holiday. Its not too cold or too hot up there just now so a perfect time to hopefully finish knocking out the bricks.
I finally got round to peeling and chopping a huge bag of apples, I've now made 3 date and apple crumbles (1 now consumed) 2 are in the freezer along with a plain apple crumble and 2 containers of stewed apples. I still have about 1kg of apples left to do but I'd had enough so will finish them tomorrow. Freezer is filling up nicely now with goodies, always like a good full freezer at this time of year just in case we get a dump of snow.
Sorry Bakers2, hope you are feeling better soon, mine is more a sore throat than anything else, although I seem to get a cough at bedtime.
Thanks for the best wishes folks its appreciated
Christmas, haven't even thought about it yet, might just have a quiet one this year. After having the eldest and his family descended on us, at the last minute last Christmas. Was nice to see them but a bit more than 1 hours notice would have been nice.

Predictably, we are still keeping busy at the "new" house.
The painting required meantime is now complete, even SIL has been painting! The new flooring in Callum's room is done and we are now working on hanging doors and fitting all the new oak facings and skirtings. Hopefully his room will be ready before they have to move in.
Next on the list is the main bedroom, we can at least lay the floor, do the new woodwork, and hang the wallpaper, even though the en suite bathroom is on hold. We have all the tiles etc, etc, but cannot do much until the leak from above in the pipe duct is dealt with.
The sale of the old house is apparently progressing, but still not confirmed, so it will be at least 2 or 3 weeks now till they, hopefully, move.
SIL brought home a cold from his school and has kindly shared it, so Callum, DD and OH have all been struck down, I seem to have mainly escaped. I do get colds but seem to throw them off quickly, unlike OH and DD, who have been miserable for days now.

Christmas
I am going Christmas shopping to MK with daughter and eldest grand-daughter on Saturday - I just wish I had any idea what to get people. Plans? I am waiting to see if anyone suggests anything other than everyone coming to us.
I hope TG, Bakers2 and KjellNNs family feel better soon.

That one's been on the cards for some while I seem to remember, JVB

We had heavy rain through the night last night and again for most of the morning, on and off. It finally stopped around 12:30 so we headed out to Sudeley Castle, and did the full tour as we'd only seen some of it last time we visited in June. Now it's raining heavily again so it looks like another damp walk out. Hope it stops by the morning as we move on up to Shrewsbury to our next port of call.

PLease don't start the "Christmas Shopping Run" yet Milliehull -- I've got big number Birthdays before then, two in particular on Monday 12th so only five days away, and not even the faintest scraping of an idea
. One of them is Aged Sisters 88th so I reckon it'll be a phial of some antibiotic or similar 'cos she's already got everything
. { Come on, now -- she was around before the anti-b's and the bad jokes
}
Seriously hope all those with sniffles, snuffles & aches & pains start showing vast improvement before too long.

Very cold wind but bright start but is now clouding over from the west as the tide goes out, now its raining
Just a reminder for all of us "more vunerable"and susceptible to colds remember, there is more chance of picking up any virus from door and grab handles so when useing public transport or out doing the seasonal
shopping be aware !!!!!
Ps and remember not everyone washes their hands after going to the loo so grab handles in those places are very "unclean" BE CAREFULL OUT THERE

Beautiful bright and sunny morning. Thanks for the good wishes. Apart from a couple or three hours I spent the day in bed 😲😲 never heard a radio 4 programme all the way through! Up and showered this morning definitely better but not right so just pottering. No idea where it came from or why it hit so hard.
Hope others suffering are feeling brighter.
ABM you're so right about where you pick up germs and bugs. So many folks practice poor hygiene 😤😤.
My mum, 88 and slower these days, has finished her Christmas card writing. She sets herself a target of 5 a day to get through the hundred plus she sends! I bought them all for her. Mine? Naturally I've not thought about them yet 😂.
Goldie I hope you get a birthday treat. Start hinting LOUDLY.
Milliehull hope you get some time off over Christmas. Wish I could have mine altogether here but heyho! But maybe when the kids assume you can't do Christmas isn't so good. After my mum's stroke 8 years ago no one goes for anything other than a cuppa, although she manages very well. Every cloud has a silver lining 😉.
I don't go Christmas shopping only thing I get is the hump! Random shopping for everything these days and that often includes food 😂😂.
Enjoy your day folks. I'm going to sit in the sunny conservatory and read the latest book in the Shardlake series if I can concentrate for long enough 😉.

Rain overnight and again this morning, still cloudy but brighter.
Cold and sore throat still no better today so have given in and resorted to some tablets, can't suck anymore sore throat lozenges as my tongue is now sore
other than that I don't feel too bad.
OH now finished next door neighbours door canopy, just needs a hand to lift it and put it into place so BIL coming out to help.
If it stays dry I might just go out to the greenhouse and pot up a few cuttings I took a while ago, they have now rooted so time to pot up. I've also got loads of bulbs that i lifted from under bushes, I will put into pots until the Spring to see where the gaps are.
Still quite mild up here so garden is still looking good, lots of leaves still on most bushes and trees.

Nice morning in Keswick, visited the museum which has a Chris Bennington exhibition and also had a go on the musical stones! Raining again now so back in van. Second attempt to put a view of Derwentwater on here...
