Motorhomes and the white peg rule

Why should such “Aires” not be embraced in the UK? Maybe because they would not be priced at £3.50 and would probably be closer to £25 if they were space din accordance with our regs and provided the facilities that you outline in town areas or close by.

" We fancied a nice evening meal and the village had four family run restaurants. We chose one, enjoyed lovely food (three courses), and paid €26 including water, wine and coffee. "
And how much do you estimate that meal would have cost in the UK? We have found the cost of eating out or buying food in markets along with galleries, museums and other visitor attractions are often considerably less - sometimes even free - in Europe compared to UK prices. Why do you make a particular point about site prices?

Nope, I thought you meant what you said.
Still, I’m pleased you’ve sorted it out.👍🏻

Like many simple questions WTG there is a simple answer. Mine would be that I don't know so we have something in common
I asked because I noticed that minimum fire break recommendations for campsites in a number of European countries was 3m and I simply wondered if purpose built aires provided this. I thought that they might

There are quite a lot of such sites set up on community facilities in Shetland but they usually have EHU and facilities. Very good they are, too, but they do not generally have 6m spacing, perhaps 3m is nearer the mark.
They were set up with the aid of EU funding. Guess the boat has been missed there.

Sounds good in theory I agree DD. Community/village halls around hear would not leave their car parks open when not in regular use. I bet that you can guess why.
We don't have struggling pubs nearby as they gave up and closed long ago with many of them being used in small housing projects with additional homes on the car parks.

More like £40 per head for 3 courses, water, wine and coffee, I'd have thought, DD. And that is precisely my point. Eating out, along with visits to galleries, museums, theatres, transport etc is much more expensive, for whatever reason in the UK. Why expect site prices to be any different?
Still, we're getting way off the OP now so maybe best to let it rest!

Maybe try reading newspapers. Very easy to keep up on news these days with the internet.
There have been quite a number of caravan fires over the years in UK. They have not resulted in terrible aftermaths which may show the value of the recommendations followed on UK camping sites.
