Arrival times. Even the club get it wrong!
We regularly use the Seacroft club site in Cromer as it's one of our favourite locations. I read last year that the arrival time at Seacroft was going to be changed as from this year from 12:00 to 13:00. The site information on the website and my booking confirmation all state 13:00 arrival. Today I have just had one of those enjoy your holiday emails, and to my surprise it states arrival times form 12:00 to 20:00. If the club are unable to get it right, how do they expect the members to. I hope anyone arriving between 12:00 - 13:00 will be dealt with sympathetically.

Does anyone know why the arrival time has been changed at Seacroft as it has one of the better entrances in the network.

We had the same thing a couple of years ago with Berwick site. Several of us arrived just after 12:00 as per the enjoy your holiday email, to be told we should not have been there before 1pm. In our case even our original confirmation said 12:00, as the change had occurred after we booked. I contact the club to point out the mistake, but they duplicated it some six months later with another site.
I know we all make mistakes, but the level of quality control on web site / emailed information seems particularly poor.

David, I agree. with all the regular posts on arrival times (and the polarisation of views they generate) wouldn't it be simple for someone to quickly answer these apparent 'anomalies' (easy access yet a later arrival time.....exactly the opposite of the desires of many of the participants in most discussions) and say why these seemingly 'arbitrary' changes are happening across the network...
a little (factual) information goes a long way......

This is what the entrance looks like for those that don't know the site.

Usually a change of warden or area manager. Typically done on the spur of the moment after a single incident
If it says 12 noon on my reminder then that' when I shall turn up. As you say, large unobstructed entrance which holds just loads of units.
It beggars belief why such changes are imposed without good or published reasons behind the logic

We were at Seacroft Saturday night and arrived about 12:20. Warder let us on but I asked why it was 1pm now and she said with people not leaving till 12 and arrivals at the same time they were not getting time to cut the grass on pitches in between so the hour at least gave them some time to keep on top of it.

When we were there earlier this year when it was peak holiday time, the arrivals were blocking the A149 and the warden said it was because there were still departures to go, and they had just finished the loos1200(the other pair were day off) also some had been "looking "for the wardens at 11.15
It may change again next year as there is a change of warden and an add set of staff

at a regular site we visit that understands these things, the barrier is much closer to the road and visitors actually come through the barrier and park inside before visiting reception to check in.
even as one of the busiest holiday sites in Spain, there is never any queue whatsoever.
couple this with the policy of no strict arrival time and folk choosing their pitch on foot, you don't get multiple vehicles driving round and round the site either, even when full...
there certainly are other ways to get your customers quickly and comfortably settled, but (like in many other things) the club has its way of doing things and we have to accept the fall out of its one size fits all approach.
of course, the reception staff are looking after customers (what else?) not cleaning loos

my post said it was in Spain ....
you see, you don't read the posts before diving in
either way, it matters not where or who, if it works better, I'm for trying it.
sadly, not CC.
Carry on Queuing

Not quite sure how or why this thread got resurrected after 7 dormant months, but one thing I do agree with you, BB et al, about is that there are many club sites where arrival and departure arrangements could be more flexible away from peak season rush periods. In practice they often are, but it depends on the good will of the wardens. It would be good to have it formalised!

I can in some ways agree,if it was not a "problem " that is "used" by members to try to give the site staff "grief"if it is a site that cannot take earlier arrivals "but ***** site there was not a problem with us going on site at 1030, so you are just being a jobs worth" which is then followed by a nit picking review

ah, thank you M, the dawn of 'entente cordiale'?
yes, we do agree that there must be some sites, at some times of the year where a much earlier arrival time must be fine...

Thanks for the information. I can understand arrival time being later if an earlier time caused congestion. However cutting grass is a pretty feeble excuse. People leave the site at anytime from 8.00 am onwards so there should be plenty of opportunity to cut grass as pitches become vacant. (Better still they converted more pitches to hardstandings!) Perhaps they can't do that because they are cleaning the toilets? If that is the case change the time for toilet cleaning until the afternoon.

Well actually, BB, as I'm sure you'll recall, I also agreed with you on the frenzy day nonsense and I've come round to agreeing with you that a non EHU option might be possible. I'm not so blinkered as to stick to one line of argument when changes such as these can easily be implemented at little cost. However on other matters ..........

so, is that a yes or a no?

..or get some toilet cleaners to clean the toilets or grass cutters to cut the grass?
this is the entrance of the busy site I mentioned earlier with a few vans parked up inside the gate on the right hand side.
plenty of room for other vans to get in...
any rare queue is in reception not out in the road.

Maybe, maybe not but many cleaning jobs are 2-3 hours a day and by time you do both male and female blocks and maybe the office who knows but it was just a suggestion to free up warders time but seems what ever I say ET you would say the opposite.

"It is/was "tried" on some sites,If the "contractor arrived?"every time and at,times required, and the "over there"luvies will jump in with why close them, just remember it is the UK,and the majority of UK citizens when doing surveys are not condusive to the opposite sex being around while they do their ablutions, and as any site will tell you "members" never know when the facilties close for cleaning, but always know what time they should be reopened as noted on some site the closing times are approximate as "we clean to a standard not a timetable

indeed not but then costs would go up? two hours (or four on some sites) a day at least minimum wage? And Sundays is paid more?
Where will that come from? You want cheaper pitches and therefore loss of income now you want higher costs?
two cleaners at 25+ rates would be over £200 per week or about £6000 per season? More of course on those sites open all year.
Where will that come from if not higher prices or less money for refurbishments/new sites?
