except that those SP are very popular with MH, even on sites that are all hard standing. Been on many SP and sometimes more than half are taken by MHs.

When at FM recently it was noted just how many on arrival "static" motor caravans were useing aqua rolls to save moving to the MV service point to keep their tanks full,and buckets under the waste outlet to not move to empty, ,we also did more filling and emptying our containers at the much improved MV points at Cirencester and Hawes sites

I don't know how one can book one of these Red Peg Pitches, Ray - enough trouble getting a plebeian one at Knaresborough.
However, a tap is a tap and a drain is a drain. What I did notice was that the Wastemaster was emptied of its 38 litres in about eight seconds while the the motor caravan driver stood about scuffing his brouges while the tank form his caravan emptied like an old dog with prostate trouble on a winter's day. Surely the caravan builders could fit a 4" dump valve to speed things along.

They could. The MH we hired many years ago in the states had a huge outlet, took no time at all. Black toilet waste was disposed of in the same manner. Although it worked well with holes in the ground, I don't think it would work well with the new grids, likely to end up everywhere.☹️

Mr Freud do you really mean a four inch dump valve (which would presumably need four inch piping as well ) or are you being err...Freudian ?
We are getting a bit off topic but following your adage that a tap is a tap and a drain is a drain I use a small waste container and a 12 litre fresh water carrier mainly because getting onto the M/H service point can be slow or unavailable. This is sometimes well actually pretty often because a caravan has been parked on it to facilitate toilet emptying or whatever but my solution cheerfully gets round that and gives me aerobic exercise into the bargain

Neither have I but that is not what I said.
Caravans park on the service point for example to facilitate access to the toilet block for whatever purpose including using the chemical emptying point for the not entirely unreasonable reason that a full cassette weights around 20kg and is therefore hard to carry.
As I said we are getting way off topic.

Haven’t you? I certainly have seen cvans at MHSPs, and seen cars parked blocking the entire bay while the driver nips to the loo, and seen a campervan left at the point while the driver went for a shower, and seen MHs blocking roads by using ordinary service points. They’re all out there I’m afraid.

Ray - they may not need them, but they certainly seem to like them - when I was at Cirencester Park a couple of weeks ago the SPs were all occupied and it was about 50 /50 caravans and MHs.
However, what you say has just sparked a thought which might appeal to some - OK, let's go for the club investing in some of the quick turn around pitches which would, let's face it, realistically be used exclusively by MHs but match it by equal investment in SPs for the exclusive use of caravans.

Boring Boring Boring !!!, I have read the first page and the last page of this post, droning on about topics like this are what will be the end of CT. Why cant people just get in their MH or hitch up their caravan and just go, if you are worried about shelling out £14 v £28 for facilities then maybe you should shut up shop and stay at home, or just tour for less time.

Two photos. One is a campervan, A60 Suntor for those interested. Goes most places, tiny, no loo or shower, sleeps 2 and surprisingly 2 dogs! Has cooker, wardrobe, wash basin. Can be used as daily car, quite economic, no parking issues. Club membership a bonus for a shower and launder at least once a week.
Photo two is a small MH. Goes more places than folks might think, but challenged by overhead car park barriers. Has shower, loo, more storage than we need, comfy for 2adults and two big dogs. Club membership really only required for CL network.
We have owned both. We had camper in our mid 20’s. Because of its limited facilities, membership was good value and site fees were cheap. That was the only reason we joined. To have a shower, and do the washing. We used the Trax Racecourse Sites mainly in those days.
I doubt many camper van owners in their mid 20s would join Club nowadays. They’d wait until age started to bite the joints and a night’s sleep required more than one visit to the loo! We saw plenty on Rowntree Park in the Summer, but the owners were closer to 50-60 than 20.

Yeah, but he’s right. The Club announce a new marketing strategy and the CT ‘regulars’ bang their drums over and over, until what? Nothing.
All that is achieved is any relatively new member looking it must be thinking, what a sad, divisive and bitter Club this is.
Numerous pages of drivel, the sooner this forum is shut down the better. The vast majority of its content is dragging the MHCC reputation into the dark ages and it’s little wonder the Club are having to run these campaigns to appeal to new blood, as retaining relatively new members who happen to stumble across this forum and much of its content, would more than likely decide, this Club isn’t for them.
It IS boring, very boring.
Cue the ‘regulars’ to have a good ol bitch now about these observations, rather than see the truth.

But most cassettes are on wheels
and if a caravan combination is on its way out and passing the facilities and decides they need to go (not that i have ever noted that,what is the diference when motor caravans are doing the same ony they will be there much longer

I thought this thread had a lot of novel suggestions - but they may not have been on the first or the last page!
As to a 4" (or similar size) dump valve, I would not expect much piping to be needed. It would be fitted to the underside of the appropriate tank and discharge directly downwards. It could be operated by a handle at the side of the caravan, or electrically. Anyone wanting a demonstration is welcome to observe coaches at motorway service stations "over there" where discharging their toilet tank through a grid seems to be the norm.
My interest comes from currently improving the winterization (which is probably not a real word) of my trailer caravan. The plan is as big an inboard tank as I can fit underneath the kitchen sink, with a dump valve on the underside passing through the floor. On leaving the site, if a proper drive-over grid is available I would expect to use that, and for emptying before that it would be arranged so that a Wastemaster could be slid underneath the outlet to carry the unfrozen contents off to a drain in the time honoured manner.
I would also assemble a reducer for the outlet so that some rigid piping could be used should I ever get a booking on a fully serviced pitch. Not for winter use, though!

Great idea, Nav, and no reason why you shouldn’t use a dedicated waste dump point for ease as far as I can see. I’m all for inclusivity.
You might need good luck with getting onto some of them, though.😕

I dont need to explain why this forum and much of its contribution and content is damaging the future of this Club, I’ll write to the board and give them my thoughts.
If I were a campervan owner and the Club convinced me to join on the strength it is now trying to appeal to me, I’d explore the website, maybe find the Club Together forum and hey, campervans... they’re discussing ‘me’...reading on then, realising...

What they are selling is the clubs present services - nothing more. If that appeals folk join, if not they don't. Pretty simple in my opinion. See what sites are on offer (including CLs if desired), check out the prices. If it suits then Join. Simple psychology really

The Club are trying to sell the ‘lifestyle’ what your average campervan buyer, is buying into. A good majority, buying the vehicles to complement their existing hobby.
Have you been asleep? Inspiring Adventures etc etc? The Club are trying to attract new membership by aligning themselves to the lifestyle of the LV owners. Ultimately selling pitches and services, but at the same time, trying to make the Club a ‘cool’ organisation to belong to.
Only, every attempt to change, is met with analysis and continual criticism, especially in the “open window” that is the CT forum. An open window which is damaging the efforts to change this Clubs’ appeal.

That is being rather rude to fellow posters, epecially Easy, GN.
I thought you were the one decrying negative posting and throwing your hands up in horror at disagreements and less than polite comments, yet here you are getting stuck in and having a go.
For your information, CT has always been an appalling shop window for the club and it seems management don’t care. Whilst that doesn't excuse any bad behaviour, it is now tame and very well behaved compared to 5-6 years ago.
