has anyone had a problem with avon car tyres type ZV5 and ZV7 I have noticed that on the ZV5 the shoulder all round the tyre is cracking

and on the 4 ZV7 that are fitted to my mondeo est there is a crack appearing in the first tread groove all the way around the circumferance of the tyre,  the tyres are 18 months old and have done approx 9000 mile with hardly any tread wear  I have been in touch with cooper tires who are not really interested and say that I should go back to the supplying dealer national tyre and auto ,who say that they will have to return the tyres to the cooper tire factory for examination also they say that Avon tyres should not be fitted to caravans although they manufacture heavy duty van 4/4 tyres

cooper tire are the american  owners of Avon rubber co

Have you looked at the manufactured date on the tyres?

Tyres are dated week 34,, 2018 for all of them don't think Cooper have a tech rep as their (Cooper tire) are classed as budget and avon as mid range. Only bought them because they are made in the UK 🇬🇧 try to support UK firms

are you towing with the vehicle that the tyres are fitted to, if so and budget tyres are they rated for the extra weight as the side walls may not be strong enough or your not putting in extra air to bring to correct pressure. just guessing.

I daresay if you went into a tyre dealer to avail yourself of a free tyre safety check that they would highlight the cracks you mention as a tyre safety related issue. You could try going to the supplying dealer and asking for a check, then reveal that you purchased them there. I guess discussion would head toward have they been correctly inflated etc. Difficult but maybe worth a try.

should have said 3416 two years old .just ordered 4 goodyear tyres

so that the supplying dealer can return faulty ones back to Avon .It is up to avon to decide whether their is a fault with the tyres and they will say how much refund if that I will receive if any at all but i will ask for the tyres to returned to me there is to be no credit allowance

You  could  always  phone  the  Club  Legal  department  for  guidance

                      and / or

Try  your  local  Trading  Standards  Department  (  or  what  ever  it  is now  called )

got 4x new goodyears fitted and now the dealer is to send the Avons back to the factory for examination

Cooper/Avon refused to send a rep out to look at tyres

Trading standards need you to get an expert to examine tyre and file a report [at your cost ] and then may take it further
