Gassing part 2
Hi all
Ive not been on for a while but a friend has just had to make an insurance claim after being broken into whilst camping in France.
During the claim discussions, the club apparently made reference to the fact that it was known that ‘gassing’ was a method used by thieves.
A few years ago I read that this had been rejected by the Society of Aneasthetists. . ( apologies for description) as not being feasible. My objective mind would tend to align with this .
Have I missed a source of updated reference on the matter please.
Im not attempting to reignite the debate, merely requesting a source of updated information.
If there is no such support then didour insurers ought to be proffering this.

There has still been no authenticated instance of this. I prefer to trust the Royal College of Anaesthetists than urban myths peddled by the daily mail and similar.
If the Club's insurers are in fact adding credence to the reports then I would hope that the claimant objected.

I am very surprised that the Club would have made any reference to "gassing" as nearly all the reported cases have never been proved medically. I am perfectly happy to accept that someone had their caravan or motorhome broken in to whilst they were asleep. Most robberies of that nature are speculative in nature and they will be in and out in seconds so why would they bother with gas?

David - after my initial 'groan' that 'gassing' once again rears its ugly head I appreciate your concise and accurate diagnosis of the situation.

Well , there is the case of the Bolivian Mennonite women who allegedly were gassed by modified cow tranquilliser sprayed through windows and assaulted. Difficult to know how true it was but 9 men were convicted. Until I read about this I agreed that all the reports were probably false although I still think there are many other likelier explanations for the caravan/motorhome robberies.

We witnessed a potential roadside robbery in July.
They were demanding €15 to park overnight at the roadside in Le Touquet.
We managed to escape with our money intact while their backs were turned ........
