Huttopia Saumur or Le Domaine de L’Etang is the question. We are heading that way Tuesday and require 3 nights somewhere, now we have some overseas vouchers to use up so was thinking one of these sites might potentially give us 3 free nights so what’s the verdict please ? We haven’t got bikes and are in a caravan. Thank you.

I don't know either of the two sites you mention, but quite by chance we found Camping Le Po Dore in June this year - about 6 miles from Saumur and priced at 15 euros with an ACSI card. The reviews on the ACSI website tell how good it is. But the problem with vouchers burning a hole in your pocket is that they sometimes lead you somewhere else that isn't as good.  Decisions, decisions !

We stayed at Huttopia Saumur for 1 night last September. The site is “OK’ but the location, especially without bikes, is not good. I can’t comment on the other site but we’ll not be going back to Huttopia Saumur.

Don't forget to pay your respects to Richard the Lionheart at nearby Fontvreaud Abbey. There's a simple site at Montsoreau by the river. Can't comment on conditions as over 10 years since we stayed on it.
