Water in shower blocks

Does anyone know if the club adds anything into the shower block water.  And before anyone says it other than heat. 😀

    Yes , they add 20% "aqua", it makes the water go further cool

    I suppose that in some hard water areas they might use a water softening filter to reduce limescale but I really can't see them adding anything to the local water supply

    A little whisky would be nice. 👍🏻

    The water systems will be tested in line with national guidance on a regular basis and treated according to the findings of the test. 

    Adding one’s own soap is necessary.

    I would think the facilities get checked each year for public health reasons?

    I am sure it is all checked and conform.  Just asking as I have skin reactions when use showers but not in the van when I use exactly the same stuff.  I have really sensitive skin and loads of allergies and was just trying to process element. 😀

    You'll probably find more answers on web sites about skin reactions to water etc. If it reacts better in the van at least you can avoid any further problems. smile

    Good question OP.  Write to Grimstead Towers with your findings and ask them the question directly. 

    If they answer Yes,  Prevaricate, or just Don't answer,  refer the situation to the Environment Health department.

    is this across all club sites? just one? or does it happen on non club sites?

    As was previously stated the club only  add water softening in hard water areas but that is only a few sites not all, so in answer to your question No.

    I should imagine they have to be checked by law as if not heating water to the correct temp there is a great risk of legionella and that can kill.

    All sites are checked and tested every year to conform to all water regulations, the water temperatures are checked every month by site staff, water softeners are on most sites but that is only for the toilets blocks and the water you take onboard from a service point does not go through the same system.

    Also cleaning chemicals to clean the shower areas can have an affect on some people.

    Could it be something as simple as the water pressure on club showers being far greater than that in a van ?.

    All toilet/showers on cc sites are checked and tested for any legionella bacteria every year by specialist contractors and some sites in very hard water areas the  hot water into the showers/sinks is via a water softener to reduce scale build up
