Bike theft

Hi All. We have just returned  from the Blackpool Club site. We went over with our grandson to Ride the Lights annual event in Blackpool. It was a birthday treat with his new bike. He was over the moon after the ride only to wake in the morning and his bike was gone, stolen. In all the years we've been caravaning we've never ever had anything go missing. The wardens on site were wonderful with their support. We have reported the matter to the police. Our insurance did not cover the theft because it was not locked. We had put it under the rear of the van whilst we were out so it could not have been easily see. I don't want to think it was a fellow member who took the bike. If it was, shame on you on behalf of all honest fellow caravanners. CJ

Moderator Comment - John I think this would be seen by more people in the Discussion Area so I have moved it to UK Campsites and Touring.

Bike theft is a problem on some sites including White Water Park. The club have erected locking pods there to help. I am afraid though locking bikes on any site is needed, in the same way that you would do this at home as the risk of theft is always there.
