Parking at Dover
For over 35 years we have parked our caravan for the night before our ferry departure and on the return night at the end of the holiday in Waterloo Crescent on the seafront in Dover. On July 27th this year, 2018, we received a Penalty Notice: "Parked in a parking place or area not designated for that vehicle".
I appealed against the Notice but my appeal was rejected because " ..our On-Street Order does not allow for vehicles towing caravans/trailers etc." I have had to pay the £35 penalty.
I just thought other members ought to know about this new restriction. There are no warning signs saying No Caravans so beware.
Moderator Comment - Not quite sure why this was posted in the Story Section so have moved it to discussions where more people will see it.

Might have been cheaper to stay Black Horse Farm?

certainly, Marine Pareade used to be cars only but Waterloo Crescent allowed MHs and caravans....it was easy to stray into MP and collect a ticket...perhaps there has been a change?
we don't use Dover these days, though may do on an upcoming trip to Italy..
stay on a club site, for one night? no thanks.

just checked the 'Park 4 Night' app and four positive reviews from August this year have been placed regarding parking on Waterloo Crescent, three of them from continental's using it.
Waterloo CRescent has signs along the road (only a couple of hundred yards long) with pictures of caravans allowed. Marine Parade does not. There it definitely has signs saying 'no caravans'.
the parking in WC is charged during the day but is free (including caravans and MH) after 6pm and before 8am, perfect for many ferry users.
these two roads appear to be the same as they run into one another, but the restrictions are different and it is VERY easy to think youre in WC when in fact in MP.
i strongly suspect this is what happened to the OP.
Googlemaps used to have very clear photos of the allowable caravan parking signs but they (the pictures) have changed and I can't see one displaying it clearly now...but as the reviews are very recent, parking must still be allowed.

Googlemaps does reveal signs in MP with a picture of 'cars, m/c only, at any time, pay at meter, display ticket 8:00am to 8:00pm'.
which is as I've always known it...No caravans even with a ticket.
along the road at WC, the signs are not as visible (as they used to be) but there are two MH parked there in the GM images.
BHF is £26.80 for currently the same stop over....
