Why doesn't everybody give some consideration to the site staff who have to keep the pitches in good order. ---- On sites with a mixture of grass and H/s pitches, it should be possible to allocate h/s to heavy vehicles which go off site on a daily basis. Units which stay on the pitch for the duration of the holiday are less likely to damage grass pitches. Let the site staff decide who is more likely to damage grass pitches and make a decision to allocate h/s to those customers. It's really quite sensible.

Would that actually work? A heavy MH might be staying for three weeks but the warden has no idea whether he would on and off the pitch during his stay.

Oh Ye of little Faith. -- Try trusting the site staff to run and control their particular site in a way which is beneficial to customers and protects the pitches at the same time. The site staff know best which pitches are prone to damage----- trust them to allocate those, to the least damaging of camping units.

Please, please, please don’t convert everything to hardstandings. My heart sinks when I turn up at a site to see rows and rows of regimented hardstandings where the only view from your caravan is straight into the window of the van opposite! Please leave plenty of grass pitches for those of us who prefer a more open grass area. Surely we have to try and accommodate everybody’s preferences?

I wouldn’t worry, Mystery. That was two years ago and I’ve seen no sign of it happening yet.
