Mayday - double cover question
One of the good features of Mayday is the double cover, whereby if you break down on the way to a site while you are towing, and the site is booked, Mayday will tow you to the site and then back home again if the car cannot be fixed, at the end of your stay.
Does anyone know if this happens if you are booked into a hotel or B&B?
At the beginning of September we are due to go to Falmouth to see our daughter, but can only stay the one night. It's hardly worth us taking the Caravan almost 300 miles and then the return journey just for one night, so we've decided to take the smaller car, save on fuel and site fees and to book a rather nice dog friendly B&B.
It suddenly dawned on my this morning, should the car break down on the way, will Mayday take us to the B&B and then recover us back to Polesworth the next day? We are covered for both cars as we have Personal cover.
Any thoughts?

What made me think of it was this.... This morning we had some misfiring on the small car. To me, it felt like spark plugs/ gaps etc. I popped it round to the garage and the mechanic said or was probably one or more of the little coils leading to the spark plugs (Hope I've got the right) It's a fairly common problem with Renault Scenic. It's booked in for Tuesday.
Had this been on the way to Cornwall and had the car ceased to function, then I would have wanted the reassurance of Mayday back up.
We have rather a track record for breaking down. I happen with the Discovery about 4 weeks ago on holiday. Absolutely no warning or suggestion that anything was wrong before, but the power steering failed for a brief moment, accompanied by a squealing noise. The local garage told me that the pulley on the secondary belt had almost broken at the bottom and needed immediate replacement.
We are serial breakdowners on holiday, in spite of having the cars regularly serviced and looked after (including a gearbox failure in France some years back, resulting in them bringing a Discovery to us in the French Alps, from Kent!) These are just a handful of occasions. I could write a book DD. 😀😀

Have you ever considered a less risk prone activity, such as alligator wrestling?

It not just the Discovery, so can't blame Land Rover.
The gearbox that went in France was a Ford Maverick. They brought a Disco for us to replace it. When we got back we swapped it for a Disco The overheating we had once in France was a Citroen.
Then there was the time we caught a stone on the Motorway coming back to the caravan from the Firework display at Monaco - that broke the front headlight of the Renault Espace. We had to have a new headlamp, but as we had an English Renault, they had to fly us in a headlamp from the UK - not one to be had in France!!
Probably one of the worst times was when the alternator went on the car. We were towing the Caravan at the time and came to a standstill close to Carpentras. We were recovered to a local site and the car to the garage. The caravan was towed on the back of the tow truck. The recovery vehicle took a sharp left and right turn an managed to gouge two rather large long grooves in the front of the caravan! That was an interesting conversation!
......do you want me go on....you may be laughing at this point..... Plenty more where those came from. 😀😀😀
I don't think I'll risk a plane. 😁

I tried to contact Mayday.... I hear from the Greenflag adviser, who I was put through to that Mayday is CMC and Greenflag send out the help. So I call MCM help line to be given the same number I called earlier..... So NO you cannot actually speak to Mayday at all... Just Green Flag (I wanted to talk to the organ grinder).
Did you know that when you apply online Greenflag don't get the details sent direct to them... the illusive Mayday gets it and waits up to TWO DAYS to send it to Green Flag. Although they reserved the money on my credit card immediately!
MCM don't have my new policy number to give me.... Green Flag doesn't have my new policy number either... so how do I get my policy number?
As an aside the website didn't ask for my membership number... does this mean that Mayday is open to all now?
FRUSTRATING!
