I seem to manage both David, there's always 10 minutes in the day to top up and empty along with a 'hello' to others as I pass by.

But it's a personal thing so although I don't understand why someone would pay for this service, it's their choice.smile

We've sometimes had a serviced pitch and enjoyed it. But we can also manage with minimal facilities just as easily. If I was an overnight carpark user (I doubt that will happen) I think I'd like to see at least water and a disposal point.

who was talking about campervans with poor toilet facilities?

those looking for aire provision are the ones who do have facilities that can be used, those who don't want to be tied to sites, those who wish to tour in a different fashion to you (yes there are many) and just pull over on a whim onto a save, overnight stopping area......happy to pay, but also happy to have less than most sites.....as it isn't necessary...

as it also isn't going to happen, I use THS sites in this way, stopping close to towns, no booking, cheap as chips, water, dump point, convenient, safe parking.

    job done.

we seem to have got away from the op (run its course, I guess) and are now on SPs....

my personal summation would be.....we can last ten days on a site with showers, sowhy would I be on a service pitch if staying ten or less days and then leaving for home......?

I would be paying a hefty extra premium on each day to make no use...

but what if I (or you) did keep it topped up each day, what would happen to that full tank on leaving....?

dump it on site, dump it at home?

depending on time to next trip, not good to leave it in the tank for too long......

so what have we got.....unnecessary filling of the tank, unneccesary payment of nearly £50 over ten days, possibly unnescessary (and wasteful) dumping of precious resources at end of trip...

nice luxury to have?.....blooming expensive, I reckon.

for us, only if the stay is going to be longer than tank will, last, and as this is at least ten days on a site with showers, it won't happen as we don't stay that long.

however, on some of our foreign long term stays we do get the benefit of a serviced pitch, which is nice but these are usually priced in with the std ACSI deal.....we wouldn't pay a premium over there either.

Much my view as well. I think that the surcharde is £3.80 a night

Just get up a few minutes earlier to do the jobs, and you'll have plenty of time for your exploring.

Nellie, my point was that 'these jobs' (caravanning barrels) are not necessary with a MH.

once the tank is full, it will last many day (especially if using the site's showers) so why the need for a SP if staying less days than a tank lasts?

similarly, the grey tank....just one pull of the lever at the MHSP on the way out...

    no getting up 'earlier' here.

We only ever fill the water barrel once that is on arrival,a 7 litre watering can then keeps it topped up via any visit to the service point, the waste does not need emptying much as the on site facilities keep water usage to the very minimum,so we would never think of useing the serviced or more expensive super pitches,
