That's very perceptive, Euro.

It's worse, Moulesy. She has just shouted a very bad word.
I told her they wouldn't be just ordinary car parks, they might even be CAMC Affiliated. But then she said "If you want to sleep in a ******* car park you can sleep with someone else" I didn't know she knew that word. And then she came back and shouted "And where are you going to get the ******* £50,000 from.? "
Oh dear.

I wonder if the petitioner has lost interest as there don't seem to have been any updates for a few days and the number of signatures doesn't seem to be growing so fast. Perhaps MichaelT would be kind enough to forward Rowena's post?

Although I love the flexibility of Aires my first thought on the Club owning them in GB is who would manage them? There would not be Wardens. Abroad the Aires are owned and managed by the towns they are in, any problems with flooding, electrics, traveller take overs, thefts, criminal damage etc are managed 24/7 by the Mayors office.

"If the Sponsor is reading this ( and why would he after the pathetic posts of last evening, inclusive club, what a joke) I hope he remains enthusiastic and feels able to take something moe meaty to an LA somewhere..."
One would assume the sponsor, apparently a member of many years standing, would at least be aware of this thread even if not actively contributing, BB.
But what did I miss last evening? Have a load of posts been removed?

No need to apologise as I can understand why you didn’t!
I think Moulesy was making the point that you have agreed with most of us here in that we’re not anti aire but don’t see it as being within the club’s remit to set up and operate such schemes.

BB - you're pushing at an open door, you know! I don't think anyone (certainly very few as far as I can see) is objecting to the idea of the club, along with others, lobbying the relevant authorities for the provision of this sort of facility. It's the aim of the petition which is being questioned - you and I and most others agree it should not be for the club to "own or manage" such sites.

Perhaps not but there is really nothing to stop them doing so if they really thought it worthwhile. They could also look at changing existing sites. Does every motorhome, especially campervan need a 10m x 10m pitch or EHU? There is in my view an opportunity to create more smaller cheaper pitching which is more likely to be taken up by tourers for short stays but can a leopard change its spots?

Two different factors there. Personally I have no desire to have smaller pitches on CC sites. Many motorhomers seem to spread out on their pitch on a warm summer afternoon.
I also have no desire to see pitches constructed without EHU as it limits who might use them, but I can see that a minority might, but would have thought that a separate issue. This thread is, however, not about alterations to existing CC sites nor changing policies on CC sites.

And here was me suspecting that you was back on your old hobby horse of smaller, cheaper pitches for motorhomers like yourself on CC sites. How uncharitable of me.
As I said the thread is about provision of aires not turning CC sites into 'them and us' pitches.

Well at a time when sites are allegedly full, creating more pitches by making a few smaller can be no bad thing. It doesn't stop those wanting larger ones having them. Should also stop the moaners complaining about small vans occupying large pitches.

Off topic I feel. However I do not wish to see sub standard pitches on CC sites only suited to a few user types. Most folk using a site want room to put out table and chairs, some a barbecue or sat dish or washing thingy. Many MHs use a canopy in sunny or rainy weather. Whatever but as long as there is 6m separation the amount of space saved by a small pitch is minimal in my view
