Stop at Le Mans
Hi all,
‘I am heading off soon and want an overnight stop in Le Mans. I am going that way to Beaulieu Sur Dordogne to avoid Paris 😱
i don’t want to go too far off the beaten track and waste valuable time searching for a campsite away from the main road.
Can anyone suggest somewhere?
Thanks in advance

In that case get past the city on the motorway - the traffic in Le Mans itself is awful. There are Municipal sites at Beaumont sur Sarthe a few miles north of Le Mans, or Ecommoy to the south of the city.

I'm glad they give a warm welcome at Chanteloup - and for £40 for an overnight stop in August so they should.
And no good looking for a cheaper price in September- they close on 31 August.

We stayed at Camping Le Vieux Moulin this year and it was very good being just two miles from the main route. This is run by a youngish couple and they are upgrading all the time. The toilet block is very good and the pitches large. The site comprises cabins, furnished belle tents as well as caravans and campervans. Being next to the river with a mill adds to its charms. We will use it again next year.

We stayed overnight at Chateau Chanteloup many years ago, and at the time was owned by Les Castels, It was expensive then and a long way off route, so have a good look for somewhere nearer your route.

We stayed there in early May 2016 and it was practically empty but that isn't June of course. However, we have been in France for June for years and never booked a site and never had less than a good choice of pitch other than at Neufchatel en Bray where we got the last pitch at 3.15pm.

We are thinking of staying at Le Pont Romain, an ACSI site close to the Autoroute.
