Saw this last night on another forum I use, some of the members posting photos of the state of the sites they were on.
One from the Giron Plage site total devastation, trees through roofs of caravans and MH's tents totally flattened. Site restaurant opened up to house all those without shelter until alternative can be found.
Another one from the Dordogne had to rescue his children from a small tent they we using next to the MH as the wind was so strong he feared they would get blown away.
A few posts about canopies being ripped off the side of the MH, seemingly all fine one minute, next wind out of nowhere and before action could be taken canopy ripped and legs bent, even with tie down straps on.
Shocking what can happen in such a short space of time, really feel for those involved. Must have a been terrifying.

I've experienced the weather in France deteriorating in the blink of an eye, normally thunderstorms for me but they can be damn frightening. I also drove through the aftermath of a bad storm in South West France a few years ago, some places were devastated, rivers hundreds of meters wide. Not nice at all.
In saying that I think we're likely to be getting more weather like this in the near future too.

I remember in 2015 we were at the Municipal at Issoire near to the A75 when we heard the motorway was closed further south so had to take a detour off the motorway. Flash floods had actually washed away one of the carriageways on a bridge so you can imagine how severe it must have been to do that. It's such a shame for all those in the middle of there holidays.
