Noirmoutier Island and Sites

There is a link to a previous discussion for Noirmoutier but that was in 2015 so looking for any updates.   We are planning to visit next year along with Oleron and Re.   As would expect sites seem not too plentiful so any recommendations would be appreciated.   There is one close to L'Herbadiere but this seems a little isolated for the rest of the island - albeit a small island.   Comments, thoughts will be much appreciated.

Hi - this isn't directly related, but if you are going down the coast and have a couple of days spare, La Tranche sur Mer is a delightful little village / town (stay at Camping Bel).  Great site - close to a supermarket, a wide range of beaches and cycle paths.  Have a good trip!

Start with CampingFrance.com for sites on Noirmoutier - there are 15 listed, then look up individual websites and reviews for the ones which are well situated and whether you want five star places or cheap and cheerful.

Thanks for your responses.   Will check out both camping France and Domaine le Midi since we hope to use our bikes most of the time central  is good!

Thanks also happycamper 73 for La Tranche sur Mer.    As it is likely to be a 7/8 week trip we will certainly have a couple of days to spare so again will check Camping Bel.

Would second the site at 'Barbatre'  we stayed there a few years ago and was very handy for getting around the island on bikes.

    Supermarket no far away.

Site is tiered with some pitches close to the beach, these can be a bit soft so beware, the rest of the site is firm but the middle section has some sloping pitches while the ones at the top are much flatter and more open. we preferred this area.

Nice island to visit as is Re, Oleron didn't do it for us but there are those who love it.

    Enjoy where ever you go.
