I’m delighted to find I have a French connection on my great Grandfathers side-‘Pierre O’Shaunnesy’ so I’ll now be happy to support France thanks to my ancestry. . . .Vive le France(with a nod to the Irish Republic)👍🏻😎

So how does a tiny nation produce such quality, skill and experience? How is it with their lack of resources and finacial support can they do so well? What is it that gives them that winning edge?

I have no idea! Much like many of the African nations. Perhaps the vast majority of their children can't afford computers, so go out and do things for real? Perhaps they still have a balanced school curriculum that still sees the necessity of PE? Perhaps the parents have a different mindset? Perhaps their footballing infrastructure isn't loaded towards immense wealth at Club level but concentrates more at nurturing youngsters? Just a few guesses.......wink

Their players may learn the basics skills at home but then the massively wealthy clubs particularly in England, Spain and Italy hoover them up and turn them into world beaters at the expense of their own youngsters. If you want a perfect illustration of that, just watch how many of our U17 and U20 world cup winners make the grade in Premier League teams over the next couple of years! frown

I don't mind who wins the final, and will probably enjoy the game more because of that!

As for the 3rd place game, I hope all the English and Belgian players who haven't featured yet get a game. Then every member of the 2 squads will have played in a World Cup. A great achievement for any player!

I've watched and supported England right through the competition and been impressed by their team play - BUT - today's offering from England against Belgium was pathetic. They deserved to be beaten Two / Nil. -- Where was the commitment, where was the drive, where was their spirit.  I'm disappointed.

There’s a reason why some of us never boarded the ‘football’s coming home’ bandwagon☹️
