How to jump the queue to get the pitch you want.

Well, I’ve seen it at Malvern Hills. A different method was used but the intent was the same.

It’ll be fine🙂. We were there a couple of weeks ago and it was fairly quiet. Room for all with plenty to spare. 😙

I'm impressed by the degree of marital harmony shown on this thread.....
If I sent my O/H off to "bag" a pitch there is no way she would choose the "right" pitch.......

So you made it to Steamer Quay after all DD - that is good anyway. I've also seen this sort of thing done on a number of club sites; I particularly remember one incident at Cirencester Park a few years back where a MH pulled on to the pitch opposite us and had put table and chairs on the adjacent pitch before making any attempt to set up themselves.

I thought it was booked up so you arranged to go somewhere else. You must have picked up a cancellation.👍🏻

Exactly what I was thinking and before somebody says they don’t want to be allocated a particular pitch, it’s not like that at all.

I noticed a variation to this at Broadway 2weeks back. A m/h pulled into the pitch opposite us and parked to the peg ,out jumped the couple with a site plan (easy to spot now in colour),and disappeared .15 minutes or so later couple return and promptly do a vanishing trick. Spotted said m/h later that day on other side of site .Naughty naughty ,.

Well, I can kind of understand that. Park up but then stroll round to see which, if any, is a more suitable pitch - mind you I think there's not a lot to choose between pitches at Broadway is there, apart from maybe wanting a bit more evening sun. It's not exactly queue jumping but possibly irritating for anyone who may have chosen that particular pitch in the meantime.

But you can.

I don’t actually care who's hanging on, Easy, as long as I get a suitable pitch. I don’t think it a hindrance at all to have someone on the ground to direct me into the correct position on the pitch and point out the nearest service point etc.

They are in complete control and know exactly what’s going on. That’s not the same as being controlling though.

We did exactly that last year. We were pulled round a queue of caravans by the warden who asked for our membership card and told us to go off and select a pitch and come back and pay. As we couldn't remember the layout exactly we pulled onto an empty pitch and went off to look for one that suited us better. Having found another pitch I left Margaret in charge so I could collect the motorhome. I don't feel we disenfranchised any other members as no other units passed us as we were making our choice. As the site was very busy, me going round and round the site roads would have caused more inconvenience.

It just goes to show that one person's hindrance is another's friendly help.

Another post that sums up the unsavory nature of some entitled members that will go to any lengths to get their pitch .
I wish all site wardens would not let these selfish people get away with their total disregard they have for us mere common members .
It makes my day to see early arrivals kept at the barrier until the correct time also , at Cheddar last year one happy camper was waiting for an hour before being let on site , the wardens at Buxton & Sandringham also do a sterling job at dealing with those that don't respect times too. 😘
The C&CC system is far better & you do get a choice of pitches.👍

Nope. I was doing what I was requested to do by the warden, I didn't initiate the queue jumping, I was just doing what I was told
