We have plenty of everything Millie, so they are still around, maybe having a rest in the heat? Lots of ants where we are but not causing a problem. Another lovely day on the Exe, too warm to do much so we won't. laughing wink

We have plenty of bees, different kinds as well. Our garden has lots of bee friendly flowers such as lavender, foxgloves, ornamental thistles. Sadly, I do keep finding the odd dead bee though. We've got hover flies as well. We know wasps as "jaspers" ET. Lots of frogs as well, big ones, tiny ones. They need water and cool, shady areas. Still got tadpoles, big fat ones in our pond.

I am off to butcher a rose today. It's has been stunning, but all flowers have now dried out, so time for a shearing. That will fetch more buds back on. Bit of cloud not burnt off yet here, actually a balmy 22.c at moment.

Back home from spending time with the family in N.Ireland.  I think I may need to lie down in a darkened room for a while to recover.laughing

Nth.  We have lots of bee friendly flowers and have seen some bees but not nearly as many as usual.  We have a small pond as well but so sign of any frogs.  A friend of mine was saying that a friend of hers who is a gardener had seen no frogs in any of the gardens he has visited recently.  Hopefully they will all emerge when the weather turns a bit cooler.  It is very humid here this afternoon.  Quite a change from spending time on the coast in N.Ireland.

Hope you both enjoyed your NI stay Millie, the botanical gardens looked v good. I've got limited time on my phone to post, a good thing maybe? laughing

The circus has arrived next to the rally field, the big top etc goes up very quickly. Wonder if the motorhomers in the adjoining car park spaces will like it. Exmouth have provided some overnight spots and these are good ones overlooking the estuary. But you would have to put up with some cosy parking and generators... and now the circus too. wink

We will be hearing it as well when they open on Wednesday but it's mostly hidden from view and we've got a spot a bit further away this time. Makes a change from quiet and peaceful!

The F1 fans arrived home late yesterday,  after having a brill time at Silverstone, although it wasn't the result they wantedwink They were both sporting rather pink noses, and very expensive "Petronas" shirts toosurprisedlaughing

I've been at work today but it's only 4 days  this week,   yippee!

My car also passed it's MOT without any problems so that was good news.

Millie: glad you had a nice time in NI with your family.

Brue  nice picture smile your rally sounds fun, are you planning to visit the Circus?

Busy getting the MH ready for a week away to see the Tall Ships.

First day since we got back that we didn't get up to lovely blue skies, very overcast first thing but by late morning it had cleared and the sun was back out.

We have lots of hover flies and bees, even had to remove a wasps nest from above our side decking. Lots of butterflies around the Hebes smile we don't have a pond but we do have a toad lurking under the shed. Think we have a hedgehog in the garden again or at least a visiting one.

Went to see Mum this morning, she was a bit down when we got there but in better spirits when we left, think she maybe getting a chest problem though as she has gone very weak voiced again and she seemed to be having a problem trying to cough. frown

Did a bit of shopping then home to sort out a few things to go in the MH and finally make a Banana Loaf with the very soft bananas I forgot to eat, kitchen now smells lovely smile

Ripe Banana smell? Oh dear, TG. Pheeew!

I'm already in enough trouble with Mrs WN for making a Smoked Mackerel pate at lunch. MIL compounded problem by microwaving a Pancake (bring on the ripe bananas I say) and finishing off by leaving the ripe Melon skin lying around. We've both been admonished!

Good job I could open windows wide.

Thanks David, his paw seems to be healing up, albeit slowly.

Did you see this on FB a few days ago? A warning about letting your dog spend a lot of time in the water.

Here's the first part of the report, very sad:-

"Yesterday, after a day filled with fun, fetch and swimming in Lake Windermere, Myself, Lucy & Tiggy had to say goodbye to our best friend Max.

He collapsed and was rushed to the nearest vets where he was diagnosed immediately with Water Intoxication and put on drips of sodium, potassium and mannitol to increase his electrolytes and relieve pressure on his brain.

After 7 hours of determination from the vets and nurses, Max was unable to pull through.

Water Intoxication is a relatively rare but frequently fatal condition in dogs. At highest risk are dogs that enjoy playing in the water for long stretches.”

Glad that your car passed it MOT, H&T, it's always a relief to get it back without any problems. The boys saw an exciting race, but I bet it was hot there.

Millie, you certainly seem to have had a great time over in NI.

Looks like your OH is a Monty Python fan, brue!!

It's been a bit cloudier here, at home, today and we've had a pleasant breeze so it's felt a good it more comfortable. The service engineer returned to fit the new brake shoes this morning so the van's nearly ready for the off now. What with those, a full service and a replacement of the Alde fluid it came to a fairly high cost, but I suspect it would have been a good bit dearer if I'd had it all done at my local dealer and I've been able to see what's been done, so I'll certainly use the guy next year.

Made a school boy error today smile

We parked up in Deal to have a nose around for a couple of hours. Decided to have fish for lunch at a nice F & C restaurant. 40mins left on parking. With 20 mins left decided to move car and ask them to hold service for 10 mins. The mistake was that I left walking stick beside chair and realised 50 yards later. No worries. It was about 600 yards to car. First 400yds I was passing all pedestrians. Next 100 yds I limped a little. Last 100yds I limped a lot. Moved car a couple of hundred yards onto a free spot for 1hr parking. The 300yds from there to the restaurant was increasingly painful. Was I glad to sit down and suffer for 5 mins.

Daft thing was there was another walking stick in the car had I thought!

We had a busy day yesterday.

Firstly, we had to swap over cars so that we could use the Shogun to tow the caravan back to our seasonal pitch.  Then we got the awning up in ideal weather conditions.

After lunch followed by my afternoon nap, I left for work at 17:20 using the coastal route for the commute, past Goring Gap, Marine Drive, past Worthing pier and then on to the A259 to Lancing. I arrived at 17:50 just 10 minutes before the start of my shift. So excellent timing!

It wasn't too busy at work, nevertheless, an order came in just before closing time so I was delayed finishing my shift by 10 minutes. Whilst I was at work, my wife went shopping at Tesco Extra and got a bargain priced Indian takeaway meal, amongst other purchases. So that was our dinner last night when I got back to our caravan.

Today I will need to get to the bank to pay cash in from my drop money and tips. Too many coins for me to carry, so I need to deposit them. With all the moving, there wasn't enough time to do it yesterday.

I had to fill up fuel for the Smart car yesterday. With all the extra hours I'm doing, I'm getting through a huge amount of fuel. I seem to be visiting Tesco pfs every two days but not for much longer. The Smart Electric is due for delivery in September after which Tesco pfs won't be seeing me anymore! It will be one lost customer for them but their loss will be my gain! It's another win win for me!

Since a few days after the beginning of this month, I got proactive with my bookings for July and August next year. So I've now got my two nights away, every 21 days, in Littlehampton, booked right up until August 2019. As you know, you can now make plans for your holidays next year and book them now for next summer. Isn't that amazing? I wonder if those honeypot sites are already fully booked for next summer?

Largely hip problems David. I hate having to use a stick but it is useful for stopping traffic to cross busy roads I suppose. On the way back from the car I had to cross two roads that were busy. My walking discomfort without the stick must have been evident as drivers readily stopped for me to cross.

I can stroll OK with a stick. Without a stick need frequent stops every 100 yards.

Does it open up into a seat, EasyT? I used to use one like that when I was recovering from an ankle injury. It was very useful, for example, when you are standing in a queue. You can sit instead of stand. Also on walks where there are no benches, you can sit and rest when needed.

I can still take weight off with the stick Malc. I think that one with a seat might be more cumbersome when I want to get a wiggle on wink

That's a very expensive job, Oneputt, especially if a new flywheel is needed. It cost me £3000 the last time I had it done for the Shogun!

    Alan

In the last 10 years I have seen a lot of physio's! I have certainly been recommended to use a stick particularly for my knee as has been stopping to rest now and then. Trouble with a hip problem you can't strap it up like you can a knee! Also options, beyond having it replaced, thoroughly recommended BTW, are limited to painkillers and specialist exercises although both the latter have their limitations. Don't let it get too bad before having something done about it. My hip replacement was life changing, trouble is my knees are starting to fall apart!!! Unfortunately/fortunately not bad enough for surgery!

Ouch! Perhaps time to think about an automatic? My last two cars were automatics and I have to say they were a joy to tow with be that through town traffic or up a mountain in Switzerland.

Thanks for the photo OP, you couldn't get much better than a shot like that. Sorry about the car, hope you can get it fixed soon.

Look after yourself Alan, we have just persuaded an elderly neighbour to use a stick after a bad fall. Your walk sounded painful, but your holiday sounds good.

Another day on the Exe here, boat trip this afternoon. smile

    Busy busy busy!

2nd cut silage started (the grass has stopped growing re lack of rain, so we might as well cut it).

Son mowing, husband rowing up ready for pickup.

School visit - hosted by our daughter-in-law - see HERE to read all about it.

Electrician improving the wiring in the small cottage we rent out (major refurbishment between long term lets)

Me? Keeping on top of paperwork (signing off our accounts and tax returns), making dinner, tidying up a bit before bank manager's visit this afternoon (a lovely man).

Did we go on holiday last week? Seems so long ago!
