Well said R2B !!.
On the game last night England has to be complimented on their Penalty taking and their win.
I was disappointed in their standard of play on the field though. If they want to progress to the final, they will have to up their game and adopt a more attacking game plan. There are many excellent teams still to play and we want to see England prevail.

I agree that there's been a lot of hype about our (England's) performances so far. Apart from trouncing a very mediocre Panama we've struggled to dominate against two moderate opponents in Tunisia and Colombia. And I don't wish to diminish Harry Kane's chances of winning the Golden Boot but his 6 goals have come from 3 penalties, 2 tap ins and a wicked deflection!
But, at this stage the team are showing a great spirit, Gareth Southgate is proving a calm but determined leader and if we can beat Sweden who haven't looked great themselves we must have a good chance of reaching the final. Problem is that then we'll probably be facing France, Brazil or Belgium all of whom have looked much better than us so far.
So let's celebrate the fact that we'very got further than Germany, Spain, Portugal and Argentina but just be realistic about our chances and keep our fingers crossed that our good fortune continues for a bit longer yet!

I’m not a Soccer fan but last nights Belgium vs Brazil was a very enjoyable game. The theatrics not so good but were embarrassingly funny mind😊.

First thing I checked when arriving on site yesterday was the TV signal - and it's fine!!
Think the competition has been very interesting and at times, very entertaining with the added bonus of all the favourites getting knocked out.
Now it's become the European World Cup and we've buried the 'penalties' monkey fingers crossed for a decent performance today
The site I'm on in Cornwall has certainly got more to talk about than the norm!

You must have enjoyed the Columbia v England match then, K. For what I could tell, it was more of a rugby match than football. 😀😀 I don't ever remember football matches being so 'physically aggressive' back in the day. After saying that, I don't actually watch much football, so I've obviously missed out on how the game has developed between the 1966 world cup and now! 😀

It's a bit slow, but hopefully England will pick tempo up a bit now. Six of players are from South Yorks area.......must be something in water here!

So far so good! I know Gareth has instilled a lot of loyalty in the squad by his own loyalty to them but I do wonder if the time has come to say enough is enough for Raheem Sterling - against a big defence like this surely Rashford or Welbeck would be better? But I'd be more than happy to be proved wrong in the next 45 minutes!

He's had a couple of good chances. Pickburn is having a good game.

Apologies, Pickford, not Pickburn. Not over yet. Have to say, I fancy them more against Russia and Croatia rather than either France or Belgium.

Well there you go! The best performance so far and they can be confident against either Russia or Croatia. Gareth Southgate has certainly brought out the best of a young squad, but for me Ashley Young has been the real revelation. The oldest player in the squad and a winger turned full back; he's had an outstanding tournament, but then so have so many of the team.
So on to Wednesday .... here's hoping.

Yes, those too - and again you could nominate Jordan Pickford and Jesse Lingard.
I just think Ashley Young is a player whose best days seemed to have gone but has been transformed by Gareth and his backroom team.
But let's not squabble over individuals - the whole squad deserves every bit of praise.

Extra time in the Russia-Croatia match, that should tire them out a fair bit....now 2-1 to Croatia, and their goalkeeper has hamstring problems.

He's fast, a tad lacking in the confidence when he reaches the box. France have a couple like him, just as fast who do know how to finish!
The ref made a big difference today, very good, took control, not having any nonsense. Plus no Latin American theatricals of course!
