Wrong advice on speed limits from the club?

Accoding to the club advice the speed limit in France for a car and caravan over 3.5t is 90kph/56mph on motorways, and 70kph/ 43mph on other roads.

I know that signed speed limits over-ride those figures ie in towns.

However the club’s basic advice is wrong isn’t it because the 90kph applies to motorways and dual carriageways and the limit on other roads is basically 80kph. Additionally the 80kph limit does not apply on roads with a solid white line and two lanes in one direction are in provided.

I wish the club if it claims to speak with some knowledge would keep up!

I don't do foreign touring but had still learned that the French had recently reduced some speed limits by 10 kph.

The reduction from 90 to 80kph came into force 1st July. There has been confusion about what the rule really meant. The club “clarified it”. I’m afraid they have it wrong. Well wrong!

obbernockle, Did you tell the club the advice they supplied was incorrect, so they don't provide it to others?

All roads without a central reservation or barrier are now 80km/h unless other speed limit shown as of July 1st and many roads have new signage in place.

Outfits whose Gross Train Weight as shown on the cars weight plate exceeds 3.5T are restricted to 90Km/h max

Perhaps somebody will inform the Dutch who seem to have no concept of speed limits in another country.

I did not, because I have been informed by another member that she and at least one other member to.d them ages ago.

    That’s not right either.

Where two direction roads have two lanes in one direction and a sold white line separating them from the oncoming traffic, the limit is 90kph.
