"Those who are away for many weeks at a time..."

Not likely to include many CAMC sites then! wink

I usually get a bucket out and wipe down the front including the window when arriving on any site if I have muck splatter from the car.

In Aquileia on the Adriatic coast it completely left my mind to be mindful of the tree we pitched under, the next day it rained down sap that set like treacle with anything blown onto it sticking like glue, plus the windows felt like sandpaper to the touch.

On site there was a Motorhome/caravan wash area, it was worth the moving to it and the subsequent new pitch. If I had left it I think it would have been a permanent feature, I was glad of it that day.

Usually if the front is cleanish then it's all good until I arrive home.

I do like to clean the three front windows while we are away on sites, otherwise how do you expect us to keep a track on what everybody else is doing.  It's nice to be nosy' winksmile.

I reckon those in the queue behind you wouldn’t be too happy, DD. surprised

Already it's reaching the point on some club sites (both clubs) where the queues are making it not worth the wait at times.

Btw, what a pain lifting that manhole cover just for the sake of letting your washing water drain away!

We have the same problem.  We use a garden spray with water and caravan wash when we're at home.  While we're away we use One Dry Wash.  We're away for 6 weeks this time, so the ODW comes in useful.

Great. Unless you live in a flat with no access. Everyone is individual.

I have just washed my motorhome today. Had I used an onsite facility I would have been there for ever!!! Given the heat today I think having a pub on site would be more useful!!! In all seriousness I think the OP needs to take this up with the owner of his storage rather than expecting the Club to provide these facilities. I can understand the Club providing washing facilities on sites where they have storage. I suppose if the facilities are there would if be too difficult to extend their use to those that don't store there units there?

I've no problem with cleaning the front of my caravan while away, in fact I find it very therapeutic. There's always a few spare minutes to do the job. As we are usually away for anything up to 10 weeks we collect quite a lot of muck on the front and it make the windows difficult to see through, so If I'm going to clean the windows I might as well clean the whole of the front of the van. I carry a spray bottle containing diluted caravan cleaner specifically for that purpose,

Recently we arrived at a site via an unexpected diversion (we took a wrong turn embarassed) along roads that had had farm vehicles on . Consequently the front of our 'van was filthy. I washed the front when we were set up ..... not sure there was any therapy involved though. 😉

Our caravan only gets a full wash a couple of times a year.  We store it in a compound at a local site.  There isn’t a dedicated cleaning area, however they do have step ladders that we could borrow if we need to (we take our own).  We have to hire a pitch for a night and go over there to wash it down.  Alternatively they have someone that comes on site to wash caravans for £30.  The wardens arrange it, but he’ll only do it when he has a few bookings that he can do on the same day.  We usually do it ourselves at the beginning of the season, and hire him to do it later on in the summer.

However, our dealer ignores that advice, and uses a pressure washer. Doubtless they would be prepared not too, provided we paid for the extra time that the job took. Perhaps they take care not to cause damage with a pressure washer, as we do at home, and the caravan manufacture is simply protecting themselves against heavy handed misuse.

Just clean it on the pitch using waterless cleaning products. It’s a ridiculous suggestion that CAMC should have a cleaning area. Unnecessary and impractical

Do you honestly believe that your dealer bothers whether or not any "damage" is done when they wash your van with a pressure cleaner?. You'd never be able to prove that it was they that washed out the sealant and they'd benefit with having to replace it, be it done under warranty or not.

Our van is kept in storage and we can clean it in situ using a garden pressure spray. 8ltr container is plenty to do all the van including roof. We spray using dilute Fenwicks then wipe down with clean wet cloth. Job done!

We have very good washing facilities at our storage unit but I never use it preferring to wash it where it stands. A couple of buckets of water, a leather and she shines like a new pin. The roof is done with extending brush and lambswool pads first with use of step ladders of course, then leathered down then the whole thing is finished with Auto Glyms High Definition Wax- hard work but immensely satisfying.

I’m not sure how caring our dealer, or other services are. But, since aluminium will dent if subjected to excessive pressure, then an absence of dents might indicate that some care has been taken. Having paid for quite a few ‘professional’ washes over the years, without and damage that we know of, I’m inclined to give washers the benefit of the doubt.

Do you mean one of those weedkiller/fertiliser applicator things?

Even if you don't I think thats a great idea. Might even try ideation out on the car 😉. We are back on a storage site with washing facilities again so hopefully hosepipe will be fine unless there's a ban 😂😉

Just back from Meathop Fell where we watched a guy on a serviced pitch (nearest to tap and waste disposal I've ever seen) using a hosepipe to give his van a good drenching followed by brush with soapy bubbles in a bucket and then a good rinse off (bearing in mind we also have water shortages as well as van washing being banned on pitches) and the warden  just drives past him on his  little tractor.

No point raising it with warden when he's just ridden past the offender and I'm there to enjoy my holiday.

Like Jill said, No point in raising the incident with the On-Site staff. IMO this should be reported to head office to enable them to take action against their staff.

    cool
