Sites in Germany near the Mosel
We are thinking of visiting the Mosel in September and would appreciate recommendations for sites near to towns/villages accessible by mobility scooter and bike. We have ACSI but location is more important. Thanks for ideas.

There is a very pleasant site we used (many years ago) near Cochem. We were camping at the time but from memery there were MHs there as well. An easy stroll down to the river, slightly harder back up again. Sorry, can't remember the name, but if you have a look at the map it's less than a mile up the main road from the town itself. Will see if I can find my notes (fat chance of that! ) and post again if I discover the name.

the Mosel is one of the most popular rivers to follow for MHers, there are literally scores of Aires along the riverside road....
..have a look at Campercontact website or app....
we used a few when we visited a couple of years ago, also visited Luxembourg which was a surprising delight.

We stayed at Zell am Moselle for the past couple of years. It has both a site and a stell platz. It’s flat, beside the river, peaceful, good facilities and only a 5 minute walk to town. A couple of miles from the site is a Globus hyper market with lots of parking slots for MH. Great boat trips from Zell. You would need to check if the camp has a closing date. Highly recommended.

Hi meecee, All the above suggestions are good. Four years ago we stayed on a riverside site very close to Traben-Trarbach, Camping Rissbach...lovely! Flat riverside path into town only 1km. There was also a motorhome Stellplatz we passed along the pathway only 500m from town, you'll see them on Google maps. Very central for touring the Mosel. Lovely relaxing two hour (each way) boat trip from Traben into beautiful Bernkastel-Kues. Like many others have said there are motorhome/camp sites every three or five miles along the river so you can't go wrong. If I were motorhoming... I would consider starting at Koblenz on the riverside motorhome aire adjacent the Knaus campingsite and opposite the Deutsches Eck and making your way down to Trier before returning home. You will find numerous stopovers along the way. It's beautiful. I think, as you'll be very close, there is also a Rhine in Flames festival (fireworks wine, music etc.) in September. The Mosel is beautiful and local Mosel wines are superb. Enjoy!

Camping Erden in the ACSI book very good small site, nice bar and restaurant, on the cycle path, easy to get about by bike, stayed here last year and back again, if you want a riverside pitch just pay the extra supplement of 3euro.

I'll just endorse a comment made earlier, there are many sites for Motorhomes right by the river and the towns all the way from Cochem to Bernkastel to Piesport. As a caravanner I was quite frustrated that I had to stay some miles out and drive there and back. When wine supping (wine probieren) is such a popular pastime this was particular annoying :-)
