Poor Caravanners!!
Hi all,
I am at the New Forest Black Knowl site and can’t believe the value of the rolling stock here, cars that is; about 80% of all cars are less than 2 years old and I can remember when Range Rovers, Merc’s and X5’s were a rarity, now they are as common as muck. Who am I mixing with?!
Another useless stat; from my pitch I can only see two MHs, all the rest are new caravans, mostly with blow up awnings, Where have all the old vans and awnings gone?
Is it the same on all CC sites?

My van's ten years old now and my awning has poles. Last trip out - from my window I counted 9 motorhomes but only two caravans. :-)

And I predict there is a great deal of credit/debt/fiance involved with a high proportion of those outfits

How much is a Kontiki by comparison? They seem to start at around £60k Konitiki eBay ...... more than twice what I paid for my tow car & caavan

We're not in the new or nearly category. But love what we have and are making memories as we have been doing for 10 years now 😉😂.
Happened to look at one, out of interest, the other day £18000 ish to have a newer model. That's lots of nights away and a trip or 2 to see our daughter in NZ. Not to mention newer if the diesel vehicles take another hit.

Two thoughts,
Several of my neighbours have Mercs, Range Rovers & X5's and they are company cars. My sister has just bought herself a new Range Rover with her actual own money, well, proceeds of a divorce settlement so not really her own money.....
Due to terror related problems in many previously popular holiday destinations, the "safe" places for holidays have gone up dramatically in price, compounded by the falling value of the pound....
So a lot of people will see it as viable to pump good money into outfits to holiday at home...
It is of course these rich affluent people the club should be building and opening "full fat" sites to cater for. Forget your back to basics, no EHU grass pitch rubbish..........

, warden valet parking and pitching whilst you wait in the hospitality suite at the site entrance Will the EHU posts have a warden call facility to get the toilet cassette emptied I wonder

wel the site I just left was 50/50 caravans and MH, and some very big and expensive new MH, while the caravans were older so I think it is site and date dependent.

On virtually all the sites we've been on over the last 10 weeks, mainly in Scotland, there's been more caravans than M/Hs and most of those have been well over 2 yrs old.

On our recent trip "over there" one site we were on was about 50/50. The next one was predominately caravans. What I did notice was is that continentals don't go for such big caravans as is the custom in the UK. I hardly ever saw a caravan bigger than 5metres and mostly a tad shorter.

The site we are on has a lot more "older"caravans than the shiny new motor caravans that are here,our car is five years old and caravan is three but they are the last (possibly )that we are going to need to see us through to giving up,there are a lot of new "leased?"tow cars on site

I’ll say it is! We’ve seen a lot this year (20ish) out on the islands.
Sadly, some users have no idea how the techie things work or how to drain/fill tanks etc on site. It’s probably not their fault and a few instruction leaflets handed out by the hirers might help. For example, do not fill your fresh tank from the hose sited at the toilet emptying point and, no, the waste water disposal drain is not the place to empty the toilet cassette. Common sense cannot be assumed.

I did wonder as I saw a lot of 17/67 and even a few 18 reg motor homes on site, and not so much that but the occupants were relatively young to have them (generalising I know), unless they were all super rich/have good jobs?

I just liked your post AD, it made me chuckle!
Its all about being safe and comfortable, not that there's an issue with that if you can afford it.
My preferred outfit would be Australian, a whacking great big 4x4, and trailer to match to go where no no man (or woman!) really should go!
Range Rovers and Evoques are ten a penny around here, we see loads being recovered! TaTa Rovers......ta ta, see you again soon!

Mind you, some of the hire companies charge £1000-£1500 p/w.
Hire vans seem to be plastered in advertising for the hire company but maybe not all are.
Incidentally, MHs outnumbered cvans by about 8:1 out there. It’s obviously a location thing in this case.

this was a £20 per night site, an extremely expensive site? For you maybe that is but not for club sites

well they do a discount for me, I have the bill in front of me as I write and I have told a little lie, it wasn't £20 per night it was £19.10.
Confused as I remember paying with 3 twenties and told them to keep the change for the warden's fund
