Can I book a ferry online whilst in France and if so how do I get the paperwork, or do I show the information on my device screen when at Calais.

Also what's the best to way to pay for motorway tolls (peage)

Thanks

Confirmation of the booking could be sent by e-mail and this might be enough for the ferry operator. It might be better to ring the Club to book and also ask that very question.

With regard tolls. Before we had a Tag we used to pay by credit card which is a quick and easy way assuming you are not a solo traveller. The only cards that have problem at tolls are the pre-paid variety. If you are going to do a lot of autoroute driving a Tag will we the quickest way but you do need a bit of time to set it up before you go.

I book directly on line with Brittany Ferries - they reply with a booking reference number and the only paperwork is when I scribble  it on a bit of paper to show at the check ins. Other ferry companies may be the same but I can't say.

Toll payments  just as DK says.

Same as eurortraveller, we book on line through the club (sometimes) they send an email confirmation which we keep, we also take a note of the booking ref. that's all that is required at check in with P&O Hull.

I’ve booked with the club when over there and they send an email confirmation although it’s not really necessary due to number plate recognition.  No one has ask to see our confirmation for many years now.  I suppose it’s useful if there were a technical hitch.

agree with Oneputt.....as you arrive at the check in they know who you are and just want passports...

ok, I keep the email on my phone in case of confusion/confirmation but it's never happened...

Yes, you can book whilst in France.  We've done it lots of time - but direct with the ferry company.   You get a booking reference number which we jot down on our mobile phone.  All ferry operators use number plate recognition nowadays, and so the booking reference is rarely required.

If we book from France sometimes the prices comes up in Euros (which isn't a problem for us as we have a French bank account) but just check this when you're booking and switch the currency to  pounds.
